I am booked at the Freebird in April for my 8 day trip.

I am wondering if I should split it up. 2 days FB, 2 days DR, 2 days SL, 2 days MZ or something like that. Just so I can get a taste of it all.

I know the inconvenience would be having to re-pack my shit and relocating every other day. I can deal with that.

What do you guys think of this?

Is this your newbie trip? I think after your first 2 days you will be able to tell what you want your routine to be.

Staying at the DR wouldnt cut it for me at all. Although it's ground zero it's a short walk from SL or other places. Also you will find a higher concentration of CRT at SL. If you can get a room in the new wing I think you will find it more than accomodating.

So I would suggest "chica hoping" instead of hotel hoping.

Hotel moving sucks. you need a place to call home base.wouldnt you hate to get tore up and forget your hotel. also the time in and out of a cab ect ect stay at the Freebird and you wont reget it.

I have to admit I've been thinking along similar lines. I plan to pack lightly so I don't see moving as a big issue. I was thinking mainly of the SL with a night or two at ZB and maybe a night at the Prez.

Is that really such an obvious newbie mistake?

Like everything else, YMMV, but I think hotel hopping is appropriate for an 8 day trip. I do not see how you pass on a stay at the DR; I also do not see how you pass on staying, at least one night, at ZB. Same could be said about the SL, etc. So if you pack light, or efficiently, I think hotel hopping will give you some different perspectives on SJO and the scene and would be most enjoyable.
Regardless, have a great trip. :D

Another thing to consider is the few hours between check in/out times at each hotel. I'm sure a place like the SL will hold your luggage while you have lunch/drinks at the bar until your room is ready though.

Basically every hotel on the face of the planet has luggage storage, so I wouldnt really make that a concern.

For a first trip I think its a great idea. Youll very likely be making future trips and it will help you to decide which place is right for you.

I filled out the online reservation form for Freebird and also emailed them askinf for confirmation but haven't received any reply to either. Anyone else having this issue?

Thanks

I doubt I will be making any future trips. If I go to CR too much, it would raise a flag with my SO.

Since I believe this may be my only trip to CR, I am attempting to get the most out of it. I definitely want to try as much non-monger activities also..visit volcanoes and canopy tours and atv tours and stuff so I can take many pictures that I can show her.

Thats what I said back in 2001. Thats was about 17 trips, 10,000+ dollars, and 75+ condoms ago. I think I actually said, "Lets try the sail fishing in Costa Rica"... the rest is history

Seriouslsy, enjoy the volcano's and stuff. You will definitely enjoy it all (in addition to the chicas)

Not only that, it takes at least 3 trips before you can even make such a statement.

I have to pass on staying at those places for the entire trip due to google. My SO is a professional "Googler".
