OK!! Question for you guys!

How do you ask a chica you met in a store, the Mall, a plaza, or even the internet (heaven forbid) if she is a puta and expects payment for sex (above dinner, dranks, taxi, etc.) without offending her? AND BEFORE ANYONE SAYS IT, I KNOW THEY ALL WANT MONEY ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!!!!

Of the last 6 seemingly NON-PRO chicas I have met here, 5 turned out to be pros. One, I even asked well ahead of time. She acted offended and said "NO WAY". then demanded money as she was leaving. Even tried to steal 2 bottles of liquor when I would not pay her.

If you meet her in the mall and your spanish is sufficient, asking someone what they do for a living would fall under idle chit chat.

I remember while in the DR (no mistaking what the chicas do there) a columbian asked me what I did for a living. After my response, I asked her with a half grin on my face.

She put on a huge smile, a little blushing, and stayed quiet. I said "tu Juega?"

or, You Play? She laughed and said yes I play.

Since the chica you speak of would be outside the gulch, I would ask her sometime during the latter part of the convo.

I was asking in terms of what appears to be a very nice normal, non pro chicas that you might meet in a store, start talking to her, ask her for a date, etc. Sure at some point during the course of the "date" you will know, but what I am asking is " with the high # of pro and semi pro chicas here, How do you ask what might be a sweet 'innocent' chica without offending her"?

I met one chica working in Econo deptment store, OK, didnot need to ask what she did, right? There are a few indicators that I think are pretty reliable.

#1 what her living situation is? If she is living on her own with Ch*ldren, that is pretty much a ringer for a puta. If she lives with her family, jury is out.

#2 what is her lifestyle like? Is she wearing expensive clothes? Hair? Nails? Does she have an expensive cell phone? Is she a shopper? Regular ticas that work for a living do not have a lot of disposable income, ESPECIALLY if they have Ch*ldren.

#3 if she is a puta and you are a gringo, it is just a matter of time before she asks you for money. Duh!

Well then if she lies and says she works at the mall, simply look slightly disappointed and tell her you were hoping she played.

Seems funny, on one had if she is a puta then business as usual. However if she isnt but feels like a date and a roll in the hay will net her a few bucks, would she take the money?

There is a lot of truth in this, but not 100% on the mark.

Things are different here. There is a much higher premium on stability here that an older man can provide. Men under 30 in Costa Rica are the biggest flakes alive (Ticos over 30 are not that much better). They do not support their Ch*ldren, they do absolutely NOTHING to help their women out. So for many young Ticas there is an attraction to older Gringos that you would not see with Gringas in the USA.

ALSO, there is a huge difference between a Pro and a Semi Pro. My sense is that Bang Bang might be on the mark. I think there are a lot that are semi pro, especially if they have K*ds. Full time Pros are a different breed altogether.

KCCR - you make a good point here and obviously you know the culture better than I do; however the attraction to stability is also part of the equation in the US. I recall as a senior in high school 15+ years ago I was never all that popular with the girls. To be so, one had to be a jock with a strong appetite for alcohol and weekend parties. I was more in the geek squad. I did well in school with little effort and had little patience with most people in my class. As the end of the school year neared, it became obvious to me that 90% of the guys had no stable life plan and the girls started to notice this. I got more action in my last month of high school than the previous nearly four years. These girls woke up and realized that I as going somewhere and that their boytoy jock boyfriends still planned on partying with their buddies for the next decade or more.

I think this condition is what you describe in CR - probably much more prevalent in CR but still a factor in the USA.
