Anyone have any preference for either of these hotels? Can have either the deluxe room at castillo or a large standard at Amistad for about the same price.

Breakfast is better at Amistad. When the construction is completed it will be very nice but I don't know the current status. No bar at Amistad when I left in late October.

Castillo is closer to NF/ZB. Taxis are easy from Amistad because it is a block south of Corizon hospital and there is always a line of cabs there. They are about the same distance from SL.

Both good...

LaDiablo,

I'm not sure the owner of Castillo is on premise much. Darren the manager runs the day to day operation and stays sober.

It wasn't as of the first of this week. It looks like they have much to do still. The C member that was staying there enjoyed his third floor suite non the less.

i doubt it. there is a LOT of stuff going on but the good thing is they don't start too early or finish too late so you will not be disturbed unless you are a real late sleeper.
will be there in early feb and will update but plan on stuff still going on.

Highly unlikely. Stayed there many times and know people that have stayed there many times for years. It's never been anything but good for me. Darren has always been a complete gentleman. It sounds like they are both great hotels.

I guess I'm the C member :) -- I tried to get a penthouse for this next trip but they are booked for the Superbowl however they said I could have one for the rest of my trip. I emailed Carlos about the contruction but never got a response back - so I take that as a no. I'm in one of the apartment studios for my first night there 2/3
