I read that it's generally Tex-Mex. Can you get a good steak there? Like a New York strip, or is it all 'repackaged flank steak' like many central american restaurants?

::edit:: fixed subject :)

I have never run into "repackaged flank steak". I think you will find that the beef in Central America is not the molly-coddled bovine you find in the states. Their beef has real muscles from climbing mountains and not from standing in a feed lot.

If you want beef, go to one of the Argentinian places but it will still be tougher than you are used to. The flavor is superior in my opinion but you will need your good teeth.

Sportsman's has good food. Try the chicken enchilada or the fish fillet.

try the whole menu. depends on your taste but i agree the chicken enchiladas are tasty. gets a little redundant but then again its only sustenance.
the real menu is eyeballing you from across the bar.

Overall, the food is pretty good. I recommend the chicken burrito. It's huge, packed with rice, beans, etc... It's awesome, my favorite item on the menu.

I'm getting hungry already.

What's the chica scene like at SL? Indies or in-house? Did I see a picture of girls dancing on the bar there somewhere?

I'm not terribly picky, I give many more points for attitude and personality than for perfect 10 looks..

The SL does not "sponsor" girls. They are all independents and there are new girls from time to time.

Please, do not make these girls think that $100 is appropriate. Someone may take offense and hang you over the fountain like a pinata. 8)

Nice, I got a laugh from that one!

I hope to try some of the menu when I return there, preferably something fishy that's not too dry.

I only paid the dreaded cien once and it was at the sportsmens on a early sunday evening when the sausage count was 3 times higher than the clam count.
Usually I have a ceiling of 50-60 but she was hot and I paid above my rate to insure snaring her in a timely fashion. She was good but not that good, and worse she chatted up the other girls so I had to worry about being nickled and dimed by them too.

The next night she made a beeline for me like I was the biggest mark in San Jose. The lesson here is NO CIEN!!!! EVER!!!

I like the food at the Sportsmen's Lodge....tasty and what I thought was a fair price. My only concern was that my cute little waitress added a Bailey's onto my tab......could have been an honest mistake, though my gut feeling is that it wasn't. :? Look your bill over good when you get it.

My advice is don't stay and don't eat at this facility. I have been there once and I can say that it leaves much to be desired. If anyone is looking for a place to stay, eat, rest, sleep and etc., etc., please look into other venues. Just my 2cents and the local talent - don't bother, and please find somewhere else to stay 1/14 thru 1/20. I would appreciate it.
Regards, 911 driver
