I spent 4 days in CR in early November (stayed at ZB), and spent a few hours gambling at the DR for 3 of the nights.

I visit Las Vegas around once a year and usually do pretty good.

Anyway, I won around $2800 at the DR, and they didn't seem to be very happy about it... LOL!!

I got the distinct impression that they're not used to people winning their money.

I played Caribbean Stud Poker -- not really my game, but it was okay, and they had a seat available when I sat down.

The first night a spent around 5 hours and ended up around $1100.

The second night for another 5 hours and up $1200.

The third day I went in a little earlier and only spent around 4 hours, and up 500.

I played at the same table and even sat in the same chair. No funny business, just played aggressively. And I only bought in for around $200 each night.

After the first night I had a Pit Boss standing next to me the entire night. Whenever I got my cards the Pit Boss would look over my shoulder and announce (to the eye in the sky) what I had.

And every time the Floor Boss came onto the floor he made a bee-line for my table and asked the Pit Boss if I was up or down. He tried to be discreet, but it was obvious to me.

This went on all night -- every hour.

And when they switched dealers the topic was always how far up I was.

Now I've been to casinos all around the world and have never had this happen -- at least not for such a small $$$ amount. I mean a grand a night is peanuts.

Do people really not win at the DR? Just curious.

Also, I think it's safe to say that they don't "comp" any rooms for people winning.

I did a walk through at the Horseshoe, but the lack of Chicas made the DR the obvious choice.

Needless to say, the DR ended up paying for my entire trip-- air, hotel, food, drinks, Chicas, souvenirs and even 3 boxes of Cubans I brought back.

I just booked my second trip for late Feb -- 5 days.

I can't wait to get back to the DR and sit at the same seat. We'll see if they remember me, or just ask me to leave. LOL!!

The casino gives away money every single day however it does not have a drop sufficient enough to withstand a number of "larger" winners. If only a few people walk away with a few thousand extra the percentages are off and questions are posed to the floor employees.

Booked your second trip? Just the type of client a casino is looking for!

ID - I love you buddy. You are always there with current up to date info.

It's just sometimes, I wish you would go with the glass is half full aproach.

Dude, the guy says he won a couple of grand, paid for his entire trip, chicas, etc, including some cuban cigars.

You, in true ID form, zero in on the probability that his Cubans were less than authentic.

Happy New Year amigo, and while I am not about changing anyone's style, especially a Pro's like yourself.

Perhaps once in awhile you might consider the guy paid for his trip, chicas, etc and got some cheap cigars at an inflated price...all paid for with the Hotel Del Rey's $$$$.

Happy New Year, amigo. 3F's

You are correct, they do not like people winning. They want it all, every single penny. There have even been rumors about the casino cheating to avoid losing.

About 2.5 years ago, my buddy won just over $1500 in about a 20 hour period playing Rummy (ghetto blackjack). After he was up big, they kept shuffling every 5 minutes, changing dealers, and finally accused him of counting cards and asked him to leave.

Their ideal players aren't those that are playing to win. They like drunk gringos who pay more attention to the chicas than the cards. If they're drunk and can't see straight, that's even better.

Hey Triple FFF

Keep going buddy. In a half hour you have called DDreams a dangerous poster and then leveled some charge I have yet to decipher against me.

Keep up the good work

Better hurry though you have to nail 13,074 more members before a couple more people sign up. Almost like being a lab animal on a treadmill  trying for the ever elusive prize.

st pete ...chilimike here...i live in largo fla, so right down the street from you, i to play "tute" as its called in san jose...i have hit 4 of a kind on that table 3 times ...as you may know that games is the worse odds you will find in a casino ( except for the big wheel) but i play it everytime in town what were your plays to make such a big score ? pretty sure the max is 50.00 on the front end ..anyway back to your posts ..i know the pit bosses you are talking about ...first the one girl a little over weight but always has a pissed off look on her face ...i am sure she was the one that was eyeballing you the most (same deal with me ) but really the reason i play the game is for free drinks and it keeps me away from the girls at the bar (hey papi buy me a drink) and gives me a good view of the action...i would say i am down since playing there ...but with all the free drinks ..could be close to even..on my last trip in oct. i hit 4-10"s and had 500 colonades in the bonus and 8000.00 on the front and 16, 000 on the back ..then 2 hands later ..i hit a fullhouse...so you can make a score!! also what is really bad about the game ..guy sitting next to me hits the str.flush 9-k and had a 1000.00 in the bounus but made less than he would if he hit 4 of a kind...very bad odds ...

Thanks for the input guys...

I know Caribbean Stud has terrible odds. I usually play Craps, but it's slim pickins in CR, and you can't really enjoy the DR's view when you're focusing on craps all night.

On a side note, the second night I was there a local Chica was sitting next to me at the table. She was "okay" looking -- nothing great, and I had never seen her "working" there... she claimed to work for a local hotel where she books tours... well, we all know that's BS...

By the end of the night (and since I had a huge stack of chips to cash in) she invited me to join her for a drink at the Key Largo Bar across the street.

I really didn't want to, since it was getting late and I was getting some serious attention from the Chicas at the DR (or I should say my stack of chips was getting a lot of attention), but I thought I might get a little free action from this Chica -- she seemed to be interested so I thought what the hell...

And of course an hour later (and after a few drinks and some dancing) she offered to go home with me... for $130 !!! LOL!! I literally laughed at her.

She quickly negotiated herself down to $100. I offered $60 but she refused. I told her I would think about it, and I excused myself to hit the can. Instead, I went back to the DR and quickly pulled a hot Columbian. On the way out the door, the Chica saw me getting into a taxi with the Columbian and she looked pissed !! LOL!!

I paid a Cien for the Columbian, but she was a hammer and after all it was the DRs money!!!

And FYI, I am very familiar with Cuban cigars. My friend owns a local cigar bar, I've been a locker member for over 6 years, and I definitely know what to look for.

These were the real deal -- and no, I didn't buy from a street vendor -- and the price was right -- especially since it was the DR's money !!!

2 boxes of Monte Cristo #2 and 1 box of Cohiba Robustos.

Anyway, I'll hit the casino again in late Feb and we'll see how it goes.

Back in June one of my pals hit pretty well on that nonsense roulette game they have at the HR. I do not recall him getting hassled too bad by any pit bosses (we were extremely intoxicated) but he claims he was robbed by a girl at the BM who followed him around for at least an hour (before I retired to my room for the evening). Says the girl stole cash out of his pocket when they were enaged in some lip locking at the BM. I believe the next day he claimed he had been drugged but later retracted that statement after we recounted all the drinking done the previous day, in addition to him flying back to the US from Africa.
Best of luck in your gamling at the HDR- I would rather hit the Horseshoe or gamble in the safety of the Clarion (even if it is not the most exciting at 3 a.m.).

And if you do win, they play the stall game on cashing in your chips, like an annoying amount of time, you have to start getting loud which nobody likes to do, but what the heck. I think they think you are going to go back and sit down at the table.

The reason for the delay on payouts for big hands is that they always review the tape from the security cameras to make sure it was a legit hand and no funny business.

This really doesn't bother me.

And just to be clear, they were not exactly rude to me for winning.

I just got the distinct impression that they were not used to people winning and they were certainly not gracious about it.

In any other casino they would have comped my room and made sure I continued to gamble in their casino...

Now there is an idea... how about a one hour "comp" for the high rollers!! LOL!!

They could just line a few girls up and let you take your pick!!!

Vegas would have nothing on them!!!

I think the only time the word "Comp" has come out of Big John's mouth is when he is talking about "getting Completely drunk" the prior night.

Seriously, I have no problems with him or Greg...they have been real good to me over the years. But lets face it, they don't give away too many things for free in that place.

and speaking of the nonsense roulette game, have anyone else here witnessed some of these chicas play this game. It is quite comical. I once gave a boatload of chips (the smallest denomination there is) to a beautiful colombian to play along side me. I swear on my fathers grave, she (not once but twice) put a chip on every number on the board. And jumped up and down and screamed when she won..... Now correct me if I am wrong but if the payout is 35:1 and she plays a chip on 36 numbers, didn't we lose??? (Well, I guess I lost 36 chips and she won 35 so I guess I am the stupid one.)

Its all in fun..She was happy and thats all the mattered

Damn, I just broke my new years resolution with this tangent I went on...sorry

andy ...does that board also have "0" and "00" on it ? if so she be losing 3 chips every spin...they should put a 3 card poker game in that place since most gringos love that game and they could chop up the odds so few people would make a score...again ..this is for guys who know the game of crib. stud poker ..as i said the guy sitting next to me caught the str. flush 9 thur k all spades and had 1000 in the bonus ..since that only paid 10% of the jackpot which never moves (big screw job ) he made less that if he would of had if he hit 4 of a kind ...thank god the dealer opened and he got paid 50 times on the backside ...or he would of won only 400.00 for his str.flush ...that may be the biggest crime in san jose !!! oh yeah...he tipped the dealer 10 bucks ..
