I would have to say that was an RFM.

Tell her that New Fantasy or Zona Blue is hiring and since you can vouch for the quality of her services you would be happy to write her a letter of recommendation.

Then tell her if she wasnt yapping on her cell phone so much maybe she would have some extra money right now and its probably a good thing the thing was stolen so she wont waste anymore money on useless hot air. Put a positive spin on things...you know, give her a mini class on "the power of positive thinking" kind of thing...motivational stuff.

But if it was me, I would just tell her I dont believe a word of what she says and quit wasting my time and move along to someone who is foolish enough to believe her bullsheet.....

Hi Old Timers,

Please excuse my ignorance, as I have not yet been to CR.

Are guys actually giving chicas contact info such as home phone #s and addresses in the U.S.? Wow!!!

Ever think they might get a call from a lawyer about their bebe, or am I too paranoid?

Also, aren't we talking about "negocio" (business)

I have a plumber and an electrician that a periodically use, but I certainly wouldn't give them a check for doing nothing because "things are tough out there"

Just a couple of thoughts from a guy who knows the value of healthy skepticism

CdtTom

Out of the mouth of Costa Rica virgins.......Of course Rolltide said some pretty intelligent things before he went down there the 1st time.

I will go out on a limb here and say that there is very little good and a lot of potential for bad can happen by giving some working girl your contact information in the states. The fact reamins that these girls operate in an unsavory, if not illegal world, where we have witnessed or have anecdotale evidence of them stealing from each other or us, slipping drugs into the drinks of unsuspecting gringos, allegeding falsehoods, taking drugs, etc., etc.

To echo what the newbe had to say; just a few possibilities of what giving your contact info to working girls can lead to:

1) Embarrassing calls, emails etc that you have to explain to someone
2) Legal issues as in "I am pregnant & tu eres el papi"
3) Setting you up for something in the states, such as a scam or to be the victim of a crime.
4) And of course, the RFM.

Someone please give me a rebuttal with the good things that giving a working girl your legitimate contact info in the states can lead to?

I freely give my email address and am not concerned with the list provided:

1) Embarrassing calls, emails etc that you have to explain to someone
Does not apply to me, YMMV.
2) Legal issues as in "I am pregnant & tu eres el papi" No chance. YMMV.
3) Setting you up for something in the states, such as a scam or to be the victim of a crime. I am not concerned that my anonymous email address will lead to larceny. I don't respond to unsolicited emails, YMMV.
4) And of course, the RFM. I find "no" to be a perfectly acceptable answer and am not afraid to use it. I am not the least intimidated by the possibility that some may attempt it. "Nice try, thanks for playing, Don Pardo, tell her what she's won." YMMV.

It is just my opinion, but some of the advice given on CRT seems to be motivated by insecurity in dealing with chicas. I respect them and their goals and intelligence but I am not intimidated by them. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Have to agree completely with PAC and for basically the same reasons.

As to the good things: They are just like any other friendly aquaintence or friend. One gal called Xmas eve to wish Merry Christmas, another just e-mailed me Happy Holidays. A friend is headed to CR for a month shortly, now she has a contact because of our mutal friend, having someone you can go to for semi emergency, borrow a car or a ride, crash in the extra room, that type of stuff. One day one gal wanted to just get away and go to the beach with her daughter, came by with her car and got me and yep I put in the gas, just like I do if my brother takes me out on his boat. Basically the only good that can come is the same basic good that come from any friendship. Not all hookers are RFM or etc etc. Just like all mongers aren't necessarily a-holes.

YMMV and just like choosing any friend, its a crap shoot. Like PAC says, some people let FEAR control more of their life than others. Again YMMV.

This is not aimed at anyone at all:

Have you ever been around a dog that has been abused and does not completely trust people? He likes to have his ears rubbed but he never takes his eyes off you and you can see the whites all the way around. Move fast and he cringes and gets ready to move. Talk nice to him and his tail wags but his eyes don't smile.

In my opinion, that is the body language that some men show around women. The women know it just like we can plainly see it in the dog. It does not have to be that way. Just an observation... :)

Latest email is interesting,
Hello Jeff, I'm waiting for you.
I have many problems because no money came back to the hotel of the king and my friends say it is very bad, I get very sad when I have no money.
Tell me when you come back to Costa Rica, happy new year and my best wishes for you. Ja, Ja, Ja.

WTF, Hotel of the King? Did I miss something about the DR? Does Delrey mean King in spanish or are we the Kings when we visit? I sure do feel like a King when I'm in CR. I seriously doubt the DR is slow. Anyway, the bank is still closed.

"King"... I heard from one of my bartender friends this morning. She doesn't ask for cash... so she's not setting me up for a RFM, but she said things have been very slow and hopes they'll pick up soon. Lee is down getting his monkey groomed or something like that so maybe he can shed some light.

Berk....

Nope!!! It's Gabriela 23yrs 80lbs. She's new to the DR scene, so she says. Her girlfriend - roommate 19yrs 110lbs has been working there since her 18th birthday. I haven't seen Gaby working there in all my 15+ trips till Thanksgiving and I'm down every 2 to 3 months. She is REAL easy to fall for with all her GFE treatment. I feel it's all a game that works up to the RFM after you leave. :( She's not a pro yet, but I give her a 6 for trying, (Just read her emails I posted above) a 10 for looks and bedroom action. The CBJ is not that big a deal for me, but may be for others YMMV. As long as I can dine at the Y 8) and she's not a clock watcher or phone freak (Which she is not) I'm all in. :D :D After 2 all nighters with her and mostly all days, I can't complain. I spent less than $300. for 2 full days. :D :D I'm a happy customer. She is not the other little Gabriela 22yrs that now works out of the hotel M. Her rates start at $300 per hour. Glad I had her before she found that place.
