My friend and I rented both suites at the Hotel Freebird on Thursday, December 13. I was highly impressed. The suites are nicely appointed, with queen bed, LCD flatscreens, minifridge, coffee maker, large closets and loveseat. The décor is elegant but still comfy, similar to what you would find in a 4-star. I was particularly impressed with the craftsmanship. Most people probably don’t care but I get irritated at uneven tiles and poorly mitered corners. Whoever did the work in these rooms did one hell of a professional job.
The owner’s brother gave us a tour of the place as well as the surrounding area. Very nice guy. Unfortunately we didn’t have a chance to bring chicas back to our pad. We were tired after our three days in Tamarindo, so didn’t have the opportunity to put the room to really good use.
The only things I would recommend is guests print out the map/direction from the website. Cabbies had a very hard time finding the place. Plus the alleyway corridor leading to the rooms need a little more lighting. I think a girl would get a bit nervous going down that dark alleyway with a relative stranger. I believe the Hotel is adding a guard shack at the entrance so that should solve that problem. All in all, an excellent hotel well worth the price.
