This is a quick review of restaraunts I have visited so far this trip:

El Patio - Hotel Balmoral. excellent american styled breakfast and the view is unbelievable.

The Gardens - Still a good stop for lunch, It is not up to its former standards and could be slipping fast.

JR's Ribs - Excellent Barbeque, you can taste the wood in the meat, American styled prices though, but the food was worth it.

The Buffet at Britt's Coffee - You have to take the coffee tour to get this one, but the tour is great and the food is on another level.

Chelle's - This is my favorite Tico food place, the food never gets better nor does it get worse. This is a must stop at least once on every trip.

I will add to this as I wander around San Jose.

FYI-There a weekday lunch special. For 3,500-4,000¢, you can pick a meat (ribs) and 2 side dishes and a soft drink/natural drink.

They sell Churros outside, right in front.

The place that sells churros in front of the restaurant is Manolo's.

I'm pretty sure Manolo's is a few blocks west of the Prez. not far from the bronze statue of the pregnant woman. That's the place that's open 24 hours and has tables in the street behind a rail.

There is also a place that sells churros and a little soda one block east of the Prez at the southwest corner of that intersection.

That is also named Manolo's  Not sure if there is common ownership but either way the churro place is not Chelles
