Amon is following the trend of Idem and other establishments catering to the Yankee dollar---

The standard rate previously was $60.00 incl tax [sometimes $55.00 incl tax during slow times]
Now $70.00 PLUS tax 16.39 % comes to $81.47 , A 36% INCREASE

The junior suite was $80.00 INCLUDING TAX

Now $90.00 Plus tax 16.39 % comes to $104.75 --- a 31% increase


Hope they changed the HARD pillows for the increase in rate-- I used to have to bring my own --- nice and soft, heavenly -- like at SL

Actually those 60 and 80 rates had been increased to $ 70 and $ 90 as of Feb '07. These were all inclusive of tax prices. In reality the only increase is the tax.

I still enjoy staying there as my 3rd option, but the sheets and pillows are always an issue. I like you travel with one.

Thats still a 16.39% increase. I doubt that many business owners or employees saw their profit/salary enjoy that kind of increase in just 9 months You might say it is only an increase in tax but it is really an increase in the room rate as the operator is getting the additional cash not the government OK OK I know the government is getting a small cut of the increase

Do not disagree this is a significant increase, I was just pointing out this was not as big an increase as stated.

I have stayed there twice out of my 14 trips and will not in the future unless my first two choices are gone..

Any chance we can use our choice points and get the chica fee waived now.

I don't recall a chica fee at the Clarion.

There is no chica fee if you book thru Nixon.

I thought if we didn't book through Nixon, such as through the hotel directly or the choice hotel website, we would get hit with the Chica Fee. I thought the advantage of Nixox was that it was cheaper than rack rate and no chica fee. Otherwise, we have a chica fee. If I use my choice points, the room really averages down to around $50 for me.

Read the info on sale of Amon Plaza I understood regular booking and no chica fee for CRT?

I just got back and it was great. You need to book your room over the phone with Nixon, but once you arrive, you go directly to the front desk. You still receive the special CRT rate and there is no chica fee.

Really enjoyed my stay at Amon Plaza over the weekend. Very quite hotel and everybody minds their business which is important to me. Undercooked eggs at breakfast was my only complaint. Thanks Nixon for booking the room last minute for me

Gentlemen: Reminder Nixon is still the liason for bookings through the Clarion.. You no longer need to PAY at the Casino all transactions are handled through the front desk.. but if you want the CRT VIP rate with no guest fees than booking through Nixon is a must.

Hey guys, anyone know what the chica fee is at Amon Plaza? Unfortunately I booked first and read second, and for that Nixon is not able to provide me the discount

I strolled in at 2:30am and asked if I could buy food. They made me a grilled cheese sandwich and gave me a bottle of water and wouldn't accept any money... I almost felt like losing $20 at blackjack just to thank them...

On my departure from SJO (Nov 26th) my plane got hit on the launch pad, damaging the plane and delaying my flight for another day. I called Nixon and he got a room at 9 P.M. for me at CRT rates. I hear also that the restaurant is going to be remodeled in the near future. Good idea since the seats are real uncomfortable. Nixon is the man!!!
