Since even an extra day spent traveling is too much time to waste for me I almost always take the conservative approach but this next trip since I live near FLL I am going to give them a try. Worst case on the way down they cancel and I go back home until the next day and coming back I have to "waste" an extra vacation day in SJO which really isn't a waste. But if I had a connecting flight with Spirit I would be a lot more nervous.

I'm definetely taking the advice of carry ones only. They're not fokkin touchin my chit.

This is the worst airline ever. I have flown around the globe for the last 10 years or so. Been on plenty of airlines around the world. Never have I been screwed before I even got on the plane. I checked in at LAS two hours early. Short line and to the front in 10 minutes. Then the bs started. 10 dollars per bag to check. I had 3 bags including my surfboard. So 30 dollars, right. No, 120. Third bag is 100.00 So I paid the 120.00, what else to do. Then the supervisor comes up and says there is an additional 50.00 charge for sports equiptment, like surfboards. I told her flat out that I want my bags back, I will get my ticket refunded, and I will file a complaint with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. She backed down and let me go with the current charges. The power went out on the flight to Ft. Lauderdale, and we landed with no running lights. Went to get a new boarding pass after landing for CR, and heard a Spirit airlines employee chew out an elderly lady. What a piece of shit. I got an email from the president of the Convention and visitors authority in Las Vegas and from the LVCC president as well today. Both old friends. The Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce revoked Spirit airlines membership after 140 complaints of deceptive business practices. The Convention and Visitors Authority currently has 200 complaints logged against Spirit Airlines and is meeting with McCarren Airport officials next week to encourage them to cancel Spirits lease after New Years. Several meetings with Spirit management resulted in the message they do not care and are not interested in changing practices to meet local standards.

Yeah.......watchit buster!

Actually Spirit's fares have been high out of FLL recently. Decided to take TACA out of the new terminal J at MIA for my trip on Wednesday. $214 total. AA has been under 200 recently as well.

I don't like them either. Flew for first time last weekend and too many negative experiences to fly unless substantially cheaper.

Even though I pre-purchased my checked bags the scumbag in FLL made me purchase them again. Was only $10 because in SJO they were honest so I won't fight for $10 extra pd. in FLL but that kind of shit really leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Then leaving SJO they very orderly had us take the buses out to the plane by boarding group. There was about a 15-20 min. delay once we got up the stairs since the flight crew was late. They wouldn't let us board until they arrived which didn't bother me but I felt for those with more years having to stand in the open. Then what really peaved me is in the time delay several more buses brought out other pax and in Spirit's divine wisdom to help speed the process the pax that sat in the front were loaded thru the rear stair and those of us to sit in the back were loaded thru the front door stairs. Lots of rubbing elbows and such to get in my god-damn seat. What a screwy airline.

Now I heard about the power going out which to me is a very serious issue. I think it is just a matter of time before they have an AirTran somewhere.

When the power went out I suggested to the woman next to me that if someone broke out a credit card, the power would come back on, since everything on the plane requires one. And I also said that I fully expected them to pass the hat for fuel before we land. I guess I said it too loudly, because the flight attendant shooshed me. But if you want to call me a basher, go ahead. There were three other CRT brothers on the flight, and talking to them today at ZB, we all agreed this airline is a disaster.

"we all agreed this airline is a disaster."

waiting to happen!

There was an article in the news this week about the pilots (both) who fell asleep at the wheel enroute to Denver. All the ATC warnings finally woke them up. Seems these pilots were on their 3rd red-eye of the morning. Had flown two others since 12A that day. Wonder if this was Spirit?

Article in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel about the pilots union clashing with Spirit over flip-flopping schedules etc. Scary.

No I wouldnt, he had a bad experience on his one trip and I can accept that, what I cant accept is someone bashing who has never flown them like Mr Irish Drifter, but of course most of his posts are in the negative anyway, so we should come to accept that fact.
