Someone reported the policy of a pickup 4 hrs before departure. I have not confirmed it, you may want to inquire with Interbus directly.

I believe it was Orange that posted this a while back. I think Interbus picks you up at your hotel 4 hours before your scheduled flight time. If you do a search, you can probably find the thread. Or just send a PM to Orange, and he may be able to confirm this info.

I can confirm it - from their website "The pickup time for a Shuttle Out is scheduled for four hours prior to the flight departure time. This is in accordance with airline regulations requesting that passengers arrive at the airport at least three hours before the scheduled departure time."

My flight out leaves at 9am - no way am I going to the Airport at 5am!

If you fly Spirit you may want to- those check-in lines can be brutal. :(

Regarding the 4 hour deal.
When I booked my reservation to the airport, I just revised the time so that they picked me up 2-hrs before my flight.
I did get an email telling me that the time I requested to be picked up did not agree with the Flight I was on.
I told them, no problem, that is when I want to be picked up.

So, do so at your own risk, you don't know how many stops they will be making. When I went, I was the only passenger.

So, apparently they will pick you up at the time you REQUEST, even though they don't recommend it. Being picked up at the hotel 4 hours before my scheduled flight would be a drawback to the service. :(

I think that's accurate. They won't be responsible if you miss your flight because of other passenger pickups or heavy traffic. I have been the only passenger on ALL of my airport trips with them incoming, never used them outgoing.

My suggestion is to take a red taxi to the airport and negotiate a good fare (6,000¢) beforehand, usually no tip. I usually ask a taxi I'm using the day/night before if he'd be interested in taking me to the airport the next day. I always get his number/card and confirm the next morning to make sure it's on. It has never failed me, but I always have a back-up plan, just in case. This way you can leave whatever time you want and don't have to worry about picking up other passengers. It's a few bucks more but it's worth it. A personal driver is good but will charge $16-20.

That's what I've done in the past and it has worked well. Now that there may be a way around the 4 hr rule, I am curious if the service is as good going TO the airport. So far the transport from the airport to SJ has been perfect.

i tried to get them to pick me up at 6am instead of 4am for a 8am flight and they said no only pickup was 4 am or 8am??? so took cab.. but i do like them for pickup on my flight into sjo saving a coupla bucks and they are there with a sign so cannot see what you gain by paying taxi $18 for the same trip to your hotel...

Jdd,

Yeah....I for one will be curious to see how that goes for you. I plan on taking INTERBUS from the airport to the hotel in January......depending on your experience, I may or may not use INTERBUS from the hotel to the airport when I leave in February.

Although I always use interbus on the inbound trip, I never use them outbound, I just dont want to go to the airport 4 hours early, I never have to stand in lines very long, being disabled I usually get preferential treatment by what every airlines I am using.

Used Interbus for my trip from San Jose to the airport yesterday. Everything went well, made one stop at another hotel on the way. This was the first time I wasn't the only one in the van (only one other person). I called the day before to verify pick up time. Will do it again for $6.
