I think it is a lot to expect out of any Latino/Latina to be 100% honest.

Uhmmm, maybe I turned honest when I became an American citizen :x
KC, the problem is that you hang around the wrong crowd, or maybe you're attracted to those kind of people. A Latino is the best friend you can ever have...if your friendship is sincere. For example, a couple of years ago I had to borrow $1500 from a friend and when I paid him back, he got mad. I had to pay him with a cashier's check and mail it to him, otherwise he wouldn't have take it. Would a gringo do that? More likely he would charge me interest!

Sorry Bro ..... no offense intended. I choose the wrong words.

I wasn't offended KC, I was messing with you. I don't take those things too seriously and tend to see the glass half full!

Come on Kc, be honest, you love Costa Rica because of the available young women over there.

One side question Chi: didn't you just feel like taking a break from a chica at all after a long term relationship? haha I guess it is just me, but seems like a little rest from Latina drama would be necesary.

He would if he could, but he's just such an awesomely sexy bitch that these hot non-pros just throw themselves at his feet the minute he ventures outside of his Escazu digs. In fact, I've been there when they actually queue up in the driveway chanting "Queremos Chi-Trekker!!!" and waving signs saying "Llevame ahora, rico papi Gringo" and the like. It's all he can do to fight through the chica throng as they trail him all the way to the Mas x Menos on his nightly beer run.

We should all be so fortunate...

Awww shucks.... BTW... when they were voting on TLC and holding signs saying "Si" and "No" and such. I recall seeing a group of chicas holding a sign saying "Donde esta GetRythm!!!!. Necesitamos amore."

Seriously, if you want a novia who is not a sex worker, here is a plan of action:

1. Throw out your dockers and white tennis sneakers. Buy some modern and trendy clothes. Think designer jeans and cool shirt. Hint - go to the Multiplaza and look at a store called Motor Oil. Its original stuff that you can't find in America.

2. Get in shape. Latinas are freaks about appearance. They like macho appearances.... lots of muscles, tatoos and no flab. Go to the saloon next to the Automercado in Escazu and ask for a gay Colombiano named Fernando. For 9K colones, he will do wonders for your hair. Plus, a head and neck massage by a cute Tica is included. Have you noticed that most younger ticos have VERY trendy hair-dos and are always well groomed? Wear expensive cologne. Take a shower and shave. Latinas are freaks when it comes to cleanliness.

3. Learn Spanish well. Not gringo talk... which is mixed garbly gook, horribly pronounced and not understandable. Become conversational so you can ask and answer questions. This took me a year of practicing EVERYDAY, but I'm now comfortable conversationally. We all make mistakes when we talk. Chicas love it when you are really trying to communicate and mess up a word or a tense. So, have confidence and speak in different tense. Phuck up a few words intentionally. They think its sooo cute.

4. Don't get ridiculously smashed out of your skull drunk. Always try to maintain some level of control with your drinking. The chicas are tired of drunk, obnoxious gringo tourist, who have egos through the roof.

5. Finally and most important... do all of the above... and go to Ladies night on Thursday night in Treos Montelegre. Franky Go and the Cantina are open late and good spots and ABSOLUTELY LOADED WITH pu*sy. I can smell it when I walk in the door. The crowd is young and very sheik. If you follow the steps above, you will stick out. There are hardly any gringos there. There may be some DR hookers there either working or with their boyfriends. Avoid them!!!! The chicas show up at about 8PM and get free drinks until 11PM. Believe it or not - they have spending money and buy drinks after that.

So there you have it. You can and will get laid.

One more thing... if you are curious as to what the chicas really go for. Watch channel 6 at 11 AM in CR. There is a novela called Machos. Yes Machos... The dudes in the show are all well groomed, well dressed and look very tough. This is what the chicas go for. They love Macho dudes.

Chi, I think the name of the salon is Arco Azul.. About four months ago, I went in with hair halfway down my back and came out with it all cut off. Good spot and there are some attractive women there at times. Have hit a couple of the bars in that area a few times, but was with a chica. Definitely need to work on the Spanish. As long as I have been here, my Spanish hasn't progressed to where it should, mostly because my clients are gringos and don't go out much in Jaco. Was getting much better when I had an apt. in Curridabat. All very good advice from everything I know about the area. Hope to get an apt. in the general vicinity sometime after the first of the year. Another spot is a nice little Italian place in the plaza with the Volvo dealership. Have been in there early and there are some very classy looking ladies.

Wow - who would have thunk it - middle eastern girls hanging out in CR now too!

Question - for those "follically challenged" among us - do these hot non-pros consider the "clean look" chic too? (and I'm not in this case referring to my freshly shaved nads...)

GR - we all know you are not challenged in the "looks" department. For those follically challenged, ditch the come over and just shave it off. They like the look. Balance what you lost on top, with some facial hair.

I shaved mine off and have had a ton more play (from civilians) since. My only regret is not doing it sooner. Added benifit, no more hat head.

GR-

I wouldn't worry about the dome at all. Honestly, I couldn't even picture you with hair. 8)

Those points are all 100% on the money.

I know I am repeating myself, but cut the monogamy expectations out of the equation and then you don't get burned. You can pay for their attention, but you cannot pay for their faithfulness, so why try?

A puta is a puta is a puta. That does not make them bad, but it does mean that they will sell their ass if they can make an easy buck. Be realistic, don't fight it, enjoy the time when you are with them, be realistic about what she she is capable of when you are not around, make sure you reciprocate!

The positive side of having putas for Novias is that you are a free agent too. It really isn't such a bad arrangement as long as you don't start getting delusional and start thinking in terms of exclusivity.

Our other delusion is that non-working girls are non-working. Women are motivated by security and the most circumspect woman, chica or gringa, will stick a knife in your back and crawl over your still quivering body if she thinks you are no longer capable of providing her the best nest.

In Costa Rica they are called "puta". In the US they are called wives and girlfriends. If you think it ain't about the money try taking the money away and see how long she stays in the nest.

NEXT!

With respect, you are painting a picture based on your mongering experiences in CR. Not all women in CR are putas. The terms esposa y novia have meaning here equal to the US. Yes, the chicas that hang out in the gringo haunts in El Centro are absolutely putas. However, there are A LOT that aren't. They have educations. They have never been hookers. They simply enjoy a more simple life. FYI... I'm speaking of the ladies that I know in Escazu.
