That's the USUAL reaction from that wonderful airline!
Exactly why I began my post with "I know there has been some bad experience by some on AA"
Tell me why you feel AA cheated you out of miles? Did they invoke some hidden clause or did they just enforce the contract that you agreed to?
Not trying to provoke an argument but think you owe us some explanation why you feel they cheated you out of 400,000 miles.
WHEN I JOINED AA advantage, miles didn't expire, miles were useful, miles were nice to have.
At some point they decided that they would expire them.
At some point they decided that unless you took a paid flight with them, they would expire them.
At some point they stopped caring about their members with over 1million miles...
back in the late '90's, I had 1.1 million miles with AA.
I started using up FF miles as best as I could.
I had used up about 500k, and then they yanked 300k miles from me...
That was the start of it...
At some point it got impossible nearly impossible to use miles.
Then I got bad service. Then I got angry attendants who didn't like their customers.
Then they started charging for food on any flight less than 5 hours?????
WTF?
Now I fly continental. They feed me. They treat me like a human being. They try to work with you. The attendants are, for the most part, pleasant.
Is this so hard?
Then I discovered TACA... YES another airline that treats their customers right.
So now I use TACA and CO... I've been with TACA since Aug, and have 60k miles... I get treated like a superstar...
I have 200k on CO, and I still get treated well...
Why can't other airlines do this?
Air France used to, Sabena (belgian airline) used to treat people awesome as well...
Cathay Pacific, if you are under 6 foot is awesome...(I'm not, so flying them is too uncomfortable for me to care what kind of service I'm getting).
Hell, Delta is starting to treat people better now... AA is just crap.
