In late August of this year, the Tico Times reviewed a Soda they called one of the best restaurants in Costa Rica, however the name escapes me! Does anyone remember this place? I will be in town soon and would like to give it a try.

Think they did a piece on Chelles celebrating their 100 year anniversary. Maybe the oldest but not necessarily the best

Soda Peru has gone down hill, I myself prefer Cheles, but dont look for a tourist menu, it is Tico.

The soda next to Dos Gringos is hard to beat, lots of DR girls eat there also.

I found the article, as named above. I have not been there yet. It is in Heredia. Soda Gimbel. From the article:
"Having eaten Costa Rican food all over the country for years, I consider myself a bit of a casado connoisseur, and Gimbel's are simply the best I've had anywhere. Each meal consists of dazzlingly seasoned beans that sit next to perfectly cooked rice. A small salad adorns a corner, and home-fried potoato chips and a fried plantain sit alongside.

But the part that gets me, every time, is the meat. I personally enjoy the beef fajitas, grilled on the spot with onions tomatoes and bell peppers The cooks taking their cue from founder Gilberto Monge's exquisitely simple recipes, season everything to perfection."

Hand me a napkin please, I am drooling!

For me it is a toss up between Delicias Del Peru and Las Charitos off Pasoe Colon. Chelles can be a good late night stop but getting a bit overpriced from increasing popularity.rbc100
