A good tico friend of mine told me about a butcher shop called Don Fernando that doubles as a restaurant. They have 3 locations, but he said the one on the same Ave as Valle del Sol Golf Course is the newest and has AC. He said it is in the strip mall after the Auto Mercado. Very inexpensive, no booze, but great carne. I will check it out next trip...any other info?

The Don Fernando in Escazu is a a butcher shop only. I have heard that the new one in Santa Ana will cook your selection for you take home but never heard it doubled as a restaurant. Let us know what you find.

At the Don Ferando in Escazú in the mall they will cook your selection for you at an outside grill where there are a half dozen or so tables. They have waitress sevice, limited sides, and drinks available.

Thanks for the update Don Papi. Has been awhile since I shopped at Don Fernando's so I missed that change. Soon as the market hits 14000 I should be able to afford to go buy a few burgers there

Checked out Don Fernando's in Escazu this morning. In addition to the few tables outside they have taken over the store right next to the market and have a fair number of tables in there.

Say what?

Have my Captain Obtuse decoder ring on so will try to work this out

1. Yes that is the Plaza Colonial where Don Fernando is
2. Movie theater closed up. Not a smoker so do not know about cigar shop
3. Short walk to the left is the next shopping center. Has a bar/restaurant called Henry's that matches your description.
4. A bunch of Escazu-Santa Ann/San Jose buses pass by. Fare is from 215 colones to 250 colones

........and..... Then you can drive 16 hours to some fine restaurants in Panama City. (PERIOD which you should use more of) I'm sorry but I don't understand what your trivia post has to do with the Don Fernando restaurant. Now ...about the CAFTA voting which will occur on Sunday. Do you think they will finally convict O.J. (another use of punctuation) of a crime? (hey there's another one ) What about the new T.O.M.? (WOW there's 2 in a row) lol

You must've finally gotten a regular US keyboard because the Costa Rican ones don't seem to have any punctuation keys on them. That's the only explanation I can think of why chicas don't use periods, commas, question marks, etc.
