Has anyone out there been there lately, any tica friendly places.I don't need a real expensive place, rather spend the money on ticas @ fishing. Anyone stayed @carlitas or is it to noisey. Any info would be appreciated

I’ve seen a lot of rave reviews of Carlitas on travel web sites, but they always sound a little good to be true. The rooms on the website look a little too basic for me. I’ve been meaning to check out the place, but have forgotten on my three previous trips.

I’ve stayed at the Hotel Poseidon and very happy with their rooms and location. My last stop of the night is usually Nacho Daddies and it’s a very short & safe walk to the Poseidon.

I’ve walked though the Copacabana and Coral Casino hotel properties and both look up to snuff and should meet your mongering needs.

Avoid the Best Western as they are not chica friendly.

You might also consider the Canciones Del Mar, right next to the Copacabana and overlooking the beach. All the rooms are one bedroom suites with full kitchen, livingroom, patio, and separated bedroom. The accomadations were really fantastic. One thing to keep in mind, however, is that they seem to be more family/eco tourist centered though my wingman and I had no trouble taking chicas back. My wingman took "the walk of shame" past a large family eating dinner on their patio one night with an Oh-So-Obvious Beatle Bar chica!

Of course everybody has there own opinions on this, but I still like the Copa for its amenities (nice pool, next to the beach, pool bar, restaurant, decent studio rooms) and their monger friendly attitude.

I liked the Cocal Hotel & Casino. It's not too expensive off season ($75) and chica-friendly. The rooms are ok, nothing special. They have a nice pool and deck. Also, good restauarant and small casino w/ NL Texas Hold'em.

I agree Canciones Del Mar is a great place. Might not be too peaceful there right now as they are doing some kind of major construction. I agree with Cocal and it is right in the center of Jaco. Hotel Oz has offseason prices now of, I believe, $50, $60, and $70 per night.

Last time I CR I went there to gamble. Nice little casino. Very end of the strip in Jaco. I was planning on staying there next time. Looked a little more upscale than my usual Copacabana. I am a big fan of the Copa. Great location, IMHO.

Another vote for the Cocal. A safe bet.

Another nice place to consider is the Villas Estrellamar. I met the owner Tom at El Bohio and got the tour. It has a nice tiki bar and grill on site and is chica friendly for $50. and up.

It is a block north of Calle Bohio and a right and up the street from the rent a car place.

I plan to put my buddies up there in Dec.

Estrellamar is a good place. I didn't think of that one. And the owner is a great guy. Watch football with him at Hotel Poseidon in the sports bar a lot. Not far from the beach and all the action.

It is a block north of Calle Bohio just off the main drag. Around a 5 minute walk to the BB. Take a cab after dark. Better to spend C 500. than risking ruining your vacation.

I have recently done alot of review research on Jaco hotels and the one that impressed me the most was Hotel Poseidon. Most reviews are favorable as I have made reservations the end of Oct for 4 days with a tica amiga of mine. I heard the resturante there is one the best in Jaco. They have sent me an e-mail confirming that all their 14 rooms are updated. Does anybody have reasonable price car rental company out of SJO they can recommend?

You will enjoy Poseidon. I put my clients there and stayed there a couple of nights this week, to get out of my apartment. The food is really good there and the night staff is pretty hot. They are good girls though. haha

Thirdworld is right the Posidon has a great staff, cool AC upstairs, and good food reasonably priced. My buddy stayed there last year and had a great time.
