I just read an ad in the Tico Times for the Balmoral. They are running a promotion for rooms at a special $59 rate with all taxes and a complimentry breakfast included. I know that the hotel has a very resticted policy on bringing chicas back to the room. (I think it's around $30) so the hotel wouldn't be for most of our members. However for those who have a novia here, and aren't bothered by the chica restrictions, with the remodelling they just completed, (I don't know about the rooms) the new Patio restaurant, maybe it's not such a bad idea.

To bad that their chica fee is so high because the location is great.Do they also have a restrictive dress code?

When I was staying at the Presidente last year on the 6th floor, I looked across at the Balmoral and you can see in the rooms after dark if the lights are on. A gringo had 2 chicas in la cama with him so they don't have the restrictive 1 chica rule that the Prez has.

I emailed them about the ad and was graciously offered a room at $99 + taxes. No gracias!

(Or a mini-standard at $95 + taxes.)

Sorry Orange..... The ad says that the promotion is good from September 1st thru December 31st. It is on page 17 of the Business and Real estate section on Fridays edition on the Tico Times. (9-21-07) Perhaps you asked for January.

Watched the chica parade while surfing the wireless internet from the lobby...Chica friendly w/ $ 15 fee + tax. No dress code/no limit # of guests .
Rooms are clean and quieter than Presidente and have A/C .
El Patio Restaurant ROCKS ! Very CLEAN w/ Nice lunch & dinner choices
free breakfast is choice of 3 :
Americano: eggs your way, toast, potatoes, choice of ham or bacon.
Typico: eggs your way + gallo pinto and fried banana (great!)
Fruitas: Plate of fruit with fresh baked pastry
All include coffee and fresh squeezed OJ w/free refils

Good view of Ave Central like News Cafe..better food & Service plus Security in suit out front to keep street vendors moving on...

I paid $ 45 night COMPLETE w/tax via www.agoda.com has great CR room rates but once you choose its prepaid via CC. Has a parking garage if you have a rental vehicle.

Yes, directly across the street. I though the Balmoral chica fee was 20.00? Oh wait 15.00 plus tax probably is 20.00.
