since the web sites don't print the prices of the HDR i thought i would let you guys know what they quoted me for my first trip to CR planned for may 2008.
2 Bedroom Suite at $260.00 + tax **2 people**
Deluxe with 1 king size bed & Balcony (Mini Suite) at $120.00 + tax **1 person**
Deluxe with 1 King Size Bed at $110.00 + tax **1 person**
Deluxe with 2 Queen Size Beds at $110.00 + tax **2 people**
Standard with 2 Queen Size Beds at $93.00 + tax **2 people**
Standard with 1 King or Queen Size Bed at $80.00 + tax **1 person**
Economy with 1 Queen Size Bed at $70.00 + tax **1 person**

seems like you pay a bit more to be in the center of things; i have heard for a first visit, this is worth it.

Don't forget to add $10 per chica that you bring up to your room.

So that $80 room will cost you $100 or 110, or $160 (QuickBlueFox price :P ). Plus almost 20% taxes.

While the SL is great, Sparky, I don't see how NYNY2054 can go wrong staying at the DR for his first trip. I know I enjoyed walking in the front door, seeing the action, dropping off my bags in the room, and hitting the BM and casino. :P

Newyork2054:

It looks like they've raised their rates $10-$15. I normally stay in a deluxe for one. Over the past few years depending on what time of year I go that had run me anywhere from $80-$95 a night. In that time I have stayed in a standard for $70 and a suite with one bedroom and the balcony for $160 a night. There is a 16% room tax and they charge you $10 to bring a girl up. Highly recommended first-time visitors stay there. If you like it come back if you don't don't. What you're paying for is the convenience of having the play things right at hand and a secure place to play with them.

Different strokes for different folks. I like the laid back style of the Sportsmans...and you still get to go to the "belly of the beast" and get that slack jawed look. Plus for the SL NO CHICA FEE...3 chicas a day = $30.00 for what???? To line john's pockets? No thanks, I'like the SL. Used to enjoy the Presidente until they got all uppity about the girls.....

For me it is the Cheer's atmosphere. Bill and his staff have created on of the finest hotel experience's that I have ever encountered. There are not many places in the world that I can drink, watch college football, and have hot young women act like they really want me, and being a little sh*t faced I almost believe it.

The women get better looking all the time, their attitudes are not as uppity, they may go for less money, no chica fee, my room is 50 feet from the bar. It makes NEXT, and mongering, real easy. If we all stick to our guns, I can see many of the ladies from IDEM setting up shop at the SL. It seems more similar than the HDR/BM. I can only hope. My best experience from Labor day was with one of the SL regulars. She is a real jewel.

Add in the constant flow of CRT members to shoot the sh*t with. I met several men that had never heard about CRT and just wandered into the SL and they were impressed enough, not only to join CRT, but to stay at the SL over the hotels they were in for their next trip.

I walk to the BM/KL during the day, about 10 minutes. I even did it once by myself from the KL to the SL last trip at 3:00 AM (they were working on the road and the cabs were all bandits), but I wouldn't necessarily advise that.

There is an old car business saying "There's an ass for every seat". This ass has found his seat, and it's at the bar at the SL most often. I have already booked my next adventure there for New Year's and my 60th birthday.

No matter what your choice, party like a rock star where ever you are there.

The DR is so convenient for your first trip but the SL should be considered as an option as well as the Presidente. The last trip i spent 3 nights in the DR and 2 in the Presidente but would like to try the SL because of friendliness of the staff there.Buena Suerte.

FYI

I have been going to CR for 13 years and I ALWAYS stay at the HDR 8)

If they don't have a room available when I want to go there *****Then I reschedule my trip for when they do.

Once you go there.

You will see why. :D

Also not to DIS the SL it's a great place to hang out.

Lots of good fellows to meet and talk to, great atmosphere, cute chicas too.

But for the FMD (full meal deal) try HDR.

Nuff said. 8)

Mag,

I will be in CR in october. Based on the traffic on this board, I was going to try somewhere new - SL or Presidente. I sent 4 emails to SL and never got a response. I sent an email to Bill at SL yesterday, still havent got a response. i sent an email to presidente, responded right away. unfortunately they did not have 2 suites. the vip members here have talked so much about SL and presidente that I will visit both this trip and will eventually stay there once just to try it. i also want to try Hotel M and the white house.

I emailed HDR, quick response. I am now booked there for 2 suites. i agree with you. HDR is the real deal. the rooms arent the greatest. but i love the friggin convenience. i spot someone, ten minutes later they are in my room. period. I dont need a friggin garmin gps to get back to my hotel. I dont need to speak spanish to find a friggin honest cabbie. I just go upstaris. cya.
/bang out.

after all these presidential debates that accomplish nothing, i far prefer the compelling arguments by both sides in this debate between those that prefer the sportsman lodge to the HDR.

Its really apples and oranges, I prefer the SL over the DR and thats that.

The down side to the Presidente is the 1 chica rule, I like duplas myself
