YO Colonial Restaurant:

Not even a decent bowl of soup in the late hours. NTM, their refusal to admit there is or was a bar menu. The attitude and food are now on life support with very little chance of surviving.

Once a nice place with eatable cuisine and late night ambiance. This old guy spent a number of times entertaining friends and chicas with breakfast , lunch and dinner going back to their original opening. Not so in the last three years.

I am always amazed by the third world ignorance of how a quality restaurant adds to the patronage of the casino and hotel. Especially since they could have a captured audience in the gulch.

My complaints, as well as other CRTers, to staff and management have fallen on death ears. Apparently, they just do not give a shit.

Someone needs to pull the plug on the life support. It's cruel to just watch something suffer.

So they are only offering the gringo menu?

I once paid $30 for a sea bass dinner, before I knew there is a Tico/bar menu. Grant it, it was probably the best seafood dish I've had in my life, but $30 + drinks and taxes, I DON'T THINK SO!

Someone posted a while back that the Colonial was doing away with the bar-menu, looks like they have or else maybe it's now only available for Ticos or upstairs dining, can anyone verify? I had my first ever bad meal from there a couple trips back. :?

Does anybody know Colonial waitress Vivian? She's Canadian, not a working girl. Is she still there? Contact info?

I like ya hombre but how about trying to come up with some dialog without the same repetitious one liners. Sounds like a recording.

Last time I was in the Colonial restaurant in mid August, I didn't so much have a complaint about the food. It was the service that SUCKED big time. Took forever. Found out the reason is that they are remodelling the kitchen and all the food is being prepared ACROSS THE STREET. (Forgot the name of the place directly across the street. I think it is just called the Colonial Cafe.) So, you can see your waiter walking across the street to place your order and bring it back. Does this qualify as muy Tico??

Went in twice and no bar menu anymore. The Sea Bass that was once around $5 on the bar menu is now around $13. No thank you.

I was there a few weeks back and ate lunch with an old friend. We were craking up watching the waitress try to dodge traffic in the rain and keep the food dry with an umbrella as she scurried back and forth across the street. The food was still ok but seemed a lot more expensive than I remembered.

Are you sure you are talking about the Colonial Casino Restaurant?

Yes, they do have a cafe directly across the street. I've looked in a few times but have never seen any customers. Not sure why they would now only use the kitchen over there. :? Maybe they want to be like the HDR or else they're just being muy tico. :)

Colonial opened the cafe, directly across the street, almost 4 years ago. It was open for a couple of days and then shut down. It remained dormant for about 2 more years and then open and closed sporadically.

Still do not know what the plan was and what when awry.

Has the Colonial's cafe across the street ever been open? Every time I've been down it's closed.
