It's one thing to raise prices,as the Del Rey Hotel is known to do in an excessive manner,HOWEVER it's another thing to do it in a sneaky way. Members here commented how Hartley, the former manager at the News Cafe, would improve the Del Mar restaurant now that he is the manager. Well my latest encounter casts some doubt on that. Last evening I got hungry while having a few drinks at the DR. As I occasionally do when I get lazy,I ordered some chicken wings. (they are usually pretty good, and a favorite of the chicas) Normally it comes with 8 pieces (4 wings and 4 meaty drumsticks). Well last night it was served with just 6 pieces at the same price of 3200 colones. I guess he figured it was a good way to increase the profits by 25%. I am pretty friendly with the waitor so I asked him what was going on after I ate. He laughed when I asked if this was how Hartley expected to make more money for the restaurant. I wonder what other sneaky plans he has for the restaurant.

What a jip.

I'd walk my ass down to McDonalds before ordering anything from that overpriced restaurant. But that's just me. 8)

It’s always easier to cut a portion size than to reprint a menu :( …

Raise hell VB…ask for your other two wings :P …

This is disturbing news  . No telling how many orders of wings I’ve had at the DR without knowing the number of pieces or cost. Looks like I’ll have to trudge to Mac D’s for a Happy Wing Meal.

I get so tired of this game of phuck the Gringo in CR. The more time you spend there the more you notice it where ever you go  . The multi tear   pricing gets old.

KFC is closer and much better plus they dont play screw the gringo for more money there. I wouldnt touch the food in DR god knows they probably throw the food on the floor and spit on it with their attitude towards gringo.

Have to agree VB. I used to eat at KL all the time. However, with the huge price increase I cut back. Still eat there from time to time but have noticed NO increase in the quality. Acutally, think it is a bit worse now for a much higher price. Used to be the perfect late-night meal but now

From the HDR KFC is one block south 1/2 block west, McD is one block south & 2 1/2 blocks west

The KFC is right next to the Presidente; comes in real handy sometimes.

The McD--oops, the McCafe--is right across from the Plaza de la Cultura on Ave. Central. Also real handy. One of the reasons I love the Prez. :D

For those in need of american grub there is a Quiznos on Av Central, Paseo Colon, Escazu Multiplaza and soon to be Trjos Montealegre on the main Escazu road.

I am a big fan of there food.

They also have one in Plaza Mayor in Rohrmoser  . Being technically correct the new Quiznos in Escazu is actually located in San Rafael not Trejos Montealegre :P
