I was at a party here with Costa Rican friends when a woman who had just been broken up with starting to rant about Costa Rican guys, and then other women joined in and kept it going. The guys were laughing and making good comebacks, so it wasn't a totally serious conversation. Also, based on my travels, it seems like Costa Rican guys are actually less chauvinistic than men from surrounding areas... but it was still a funny conversation, so here's what I remember as Ticas top ten complaints about Ticos.


10) Ticos think that if they've ever had sex with a woman once, then they should be able to have sex with her at any point in the future... every girl here gets attempted booty calls from exes.

9) Ticos think that watching futbol together counts as foreplay.

8) Ticos are "traitors" who would rather get with N. American women if they had the chance.

7) Ticos think that whistling and making kissing sounds are strategic ways to pick up women.

6) They're short.

5) They're more likely to "lick something that fell on the bar floor" than to go down on their lady.

4) They "get excited quickly and get unexcited quickly." This one get the most rebuttals by the guys.

3) Ticos will spend more money on making themselves "look good" or on toys like pricey cell phones and car stereos than they will on gifts for their girl. I've seen this myself with guys in my neighborhood who have new sneakers or new video games every week even though they have hungry K*ds who they fathered.

2) Ticos usually live with their moms until they get married, at which time they expect a new mom. Even though Ticas are now expected to work outside the house for money, Ticos don't usually help with housework. (I do personally know a few exceptions.)

1) Ticos have an extreme double standard by which all girls who fool around are "putas" whereas guys who do the same are macho studs. I guess this is a problem all around the world, but especially here, where the word "conquistar" means to seduce.

On the positive side the women agreed that Ticos can be very romantic, especially when they get in trouble. (I can relate.)

The one that I always hear is "Ticos are machismo."

Ticos are "traitors" who would rather get with N. American women if they had the chance.


I say we trade the Gringas for the Tica's then we would be both happy !!

Let me add one more thing.

Tico's wear the pants and they don't put up will all the BS from their women that US guys are conditioned to put up with from their American counterparts.

While Ticas may complain about Ticos and SAY they like Americans better, the fact is they have more respect for Ticos than Gringos.

In general, we are considered foolish with our money and easy to manipulate.

As foreign as this concept may be to my fellow Gringos, Ticas (dispite what they say) are more comfortable when they are being told what to do. They want a man that is strong and will stand up to them (in a nice way of course).

Kccostarica is exactly correct in his post..Gringos think the ticas will like us more more if we give in to their every whim. We lose respect in doing this.

We spoiled and ruined the gringas by giving them everything lets not spoil the Ticas also.

It is funny really we come down here to escape the spoiled gringas then we spoil the Ticas and are ruining them also.

American men are the most grovelling, pu*sy whipped and emasculated men in the world. We are in such high demand because of this .

It is my theory that there are two reasons why American women are the most miserably unhappy in the world (in spite of having everything).

1) They have won the power struggle and wear the pants in most relationships, which is a role that they are not "wired" for.

and

2) They are certainly not getting phucked enough. They use sex as a tool to control the men that they are in relationships with? They hold it over our heads to get what they want out of us. Show me an angry and unhappy woman and I show you one that isn't getting laid on a regular basis.

I am not playing that game any more. I am over it.

Notice I never said anything about them preferring Americans... in fact I've heard girls here say men (and women) from the US are strange, cold, and ridiculous... (especially the way they dress or try to dance.)

This may suprise you but something friends here tell me they don't like about our culture is that we're obssessed with money and things... I know some of you guys think women here only care about money but that's because what they're doing when you meet them is their job.

It's true that they (like women everywhere) would most prefer men from their own country, it's because people like to be with people who have the same mindset and enjoy the same things.

About all this anti-feminist venom, I really don't see that as being relevant... but maybe I'm just from a different generation.

Funny how people always want what they don't have and miss what they had but didn't like when it's gone. I Think the biggest gap most of us need to close is the language barrier. We need to understand them better and learning the language is the best way. The second thing gringos need to do is to remember why we prefer these women in the 1st place.... we have ruined our own. We absolutely have to act like men and be in control to be respected. Latin women can love us as much or more than they have ever loved their own men, but we have to do our part to make that happen. None of us will be loved or respected for very long if the only thing we bring to the table our wallet and the desire to have sex. I have decided to get serious about learning the language and being less tolerant of chica BS starting this month.

I don't really see it that way. I am just making commentary as to my opinions why American women are so unhappy and angry so much of the time. I believe American Women stand apart in this regard. You are free to disagree.

Personally, I have an 18-year-old daughter and I want her to have all the same opportunities as men. But that is a whole separate issue. In my humble opinion, you do not wipe away 3000 years of socialization in a single generation. There are consequences in my opinion, and the feminist extreame, and their ability to reshape American Society, has a lot do with why everyone in the US is so unhappy and alone.

Down here people are phucking their brains out every chance they get, women respect their Tico men and everyone is happy as hell. So just what does that tell you? If that makes me "anti-feminist", then so be it.

I personally think it is a sad commentary when I speak of Pro-Masculinity and it is considered "anti-feminist venom". But that is the state of things in the US today. That just goes to show how effective the "Feminists" have been at de-maculating American Society.

The bottom line is that it is a whole different world in Costa Rica and the "Feminist" mentality is just not respected here, neither by women nor men. And that my friend is very much pertanent to how Ticas feel about American men as compared to Ticos. Women complain about their men the world over. The lack of respect that American women show their men is unique.

Kccostarica your last post is simply the truth & just how it is ! Whether it is Mars vs Venus or Venus vs Mars make sure you get the right order for the gringa,,.. well that still will not keep them happy

So true! It is hard to be the "fun" guy if you can not communicate well.

When I was a young boy I had a friend who lived a couple of houses down. We were best buds & I just could not understand why his mother made us stop playing & separated us after a few hours? It was right at our peak of having fun. I understand this much better now. She just understood how our nature is & that if we played too long together we would stop playing & start fighting from getting tired of each other. Better to separate at a high than a low .

Relationships are much like this also. Sometimes I think we are better to be “very busy” leaving more mystery & intrigue about us especially if you are not into trying to get serious with them. Women like to feel they are with a good “catch” with a man. Something they believe is “special” that other women envy & we do look special to them since we have the potential to solve some of their deepest problems, Or so they believe .

From what I have experienced I always had a woman “really putting out” when she was hungry for the catch but not quit able to catch me. I feel it is better to keep them “off balance” too keeping it alive longer.

I rather be these Tica’s “fun” guy not the hassle guy. The guy that makes them laugh & helps solve a quick problem or two than be stuck in the daily meat grinder with them. In some ways the guys only chance of a “financial win” with a woman is to get in her panties quick & get out quick because most of us see I believe the more time it takes the more we lose. It takes me right back to that early experience with my neighborhood buddy.
