I ran across one of my chica friends at the DL last night. I was surprised to see her because last I talked to her she had a new boy friend that was “taking care of her” and she had told me that she was retiring. Of course the first thing I asked about was the boy friend. The conversation went something like this:

Chica: Yes, he is still around, but he is very jealous.

KC: Well, yeah! Does he know that you are working at the Rey again?

Chica: No, he is at home asleep.

KC: What do you mean he is asleep? It is only 9 PM.

Chica: Well I put 2 sleeping pills in his orange juice. After he drank it he told me he was a little sleepy. I told him I was a little sleepy too. So we went to bed together. I had my clothes all ready and as soon as I was sure he was asleep I put on my clothes and came down here. I did the same thing last week too.

KC: Wait a minute! I thought he was taking care of you.

Chica: Yes, but he told me he was not going to pay to have my nails done any more. I have separate people that do my nails on my hands and my feet and he said he was not going to pay for that any more so I need to do this to pay for those things.

KC: That is messed up. How do you know it is going to work?

Chica: Because I did it last week and it worked fine and I plan to do it again tomorrow.

The only thing anyone should find surprising about that incident, at least in my way of thinking, is the fairly imaginative way she has developed to get out of the house one night a week.

I guess "surprised" was a poor choice of words, because to tell you the truth I was not really surprised at all. I suppose "I found it curious" would have been more appropriate.

I really believe that no matter how "street smart we gringos think we are" we are no match for the average BM chica. They just grow up with this intstinct and it comes naturally.

There is a certain logic/ethic that goes on in many Latina minds that runs as follows: If I want something and my novio has the money for it and he doesn't buy it for me, he is cheap and therefore I have a right to do anything I want to get it. This may involve working the Del Rey, stealing, pawning/selling previous gifts, emotional blackmail, or any other trick in the book.

I have seen this first hand, watching my roommate and his girlfriend. She's a loving person, generally, and I like her. But their relationship ended due to a combination of her jealousy and greed. This coming from a girl who was raised in a dirt floor shack in Managua. If you think a life of poverty make for a grateful novia, think again. She tasted the 'good life' and wanted more more more.

Not all Latinas are like her or the sleeping pill in the OJ girl. But beware, brothers, beware. Never assume that a girl who never had a pot to piss in is going to be satisfied with what you have 'budgetted' for her. Most of these girls live/have lived hand to mouth. All they see is a giant roll of cash in your hand, and they don't see why you can't spend it on them if you have it. With rare exceptions, the concept of budgets and savings are totally beyond them.

Guys choose their 'novias' based on their emotions, much of which is based on the desires of the 'little brain' down below. But a lot of grief could be saved if they would let their 'big brain' have a LITTLE input in the process. If a girl is greedy, insanely jealous, lazy, a substance abuser, etc. etc, you should be able to go 'WHOA' and move on. Sadly, guys who are very smart in most ways are total idiots when it comes to 'love.'

Excellent point. I've always found a woman's gratitude and satisfaction are temporary things at best. They will always want MORE.

Great post Bilko!

The point where we loose the battle is the point where we fail to realize that we are nothing more than clients. This is all business for them. Period. How many business people are EVER satisfied with just "one good client"? Answer: NONE.

If you keep everything within the Client/Vendor relationship you can't really go wrong. Does that mean you can't have a special relationship with one of your vendors: NO. In fact I prefer to have chicas that I have special relationships with.

The point where you fail is the point where you fail to realize that in the end you are nothing but a customer.

Chicas vende.
I understand.
Chicas sell.

Ticanomics TN:1011

What do they sell? They sell services!

Services= BBBJ, CIM, GFE, DATY, TLN, etc.

Customer (us) / Service provider (chicas)

Customer/ Service Provider

Loved the story and some great points in Bilko's post. Great to meet you the last couple of nights Bilko.
I have a current novia of over three months and I see some of those kinda signals but I take the approach of 'damn you ask for a lot' and she usually shuts up about more this or that.
This post has made me that much more cautious as I continue this relationship to see just where it'll go. She seems to be a great girl and a bit 'different' from your regular DR girl so maybe I got lucky.
However, I'm prepared in case I have misread her entirely. But the other side of the coin is I am totally satisfied with her and think I've gotten a heck of a deal the last few months with her. If she was to walk out today, I'd have nothing but good to say about her.
I just wonder if making generalizations about ALL these girls is good. I know some are hardcore, moneymakers but others are just single moms trying to provide for a family. Others just want that rich gringo to come and give them a new life. Think there is a LOT of different stories the girls have as to how/why/when they began this career and just as many on how/when/why they would like to get out of it cause the looks/body just won't last forever.
Course, then there are those that just don't realize that and gross us out as they parade around DR

In all my posts, whether I say it or not, I never want anybody to think I paint all Latinas with the same brush. I related the story of my roomie's novia only to show one particular case, an example of one sort of mindset that can be found. I could, likewise, give you contrary examples of selflessness and virtue among the girls of the night. If there is one thread running through most of my posts, it is, do NOT ASSUME THEY ARE ALL THE SAME (for good or for ill). They are not all sweet, loving, submissive, selfless angels and they are not all cold hearted, thieving, lying bitches. 90% are to be found between the extremes. Happy hunting, ya bastards!

I am not sure there is any better way to sum it all up!!!!!

It is the funnest damn hunting adventure I have ever been on. The element of risk only adds to the experience.

The great part is that you can have FUN with all of them!!!!

I have a couple that I have gotten to know that I KNOW are rotten to the core. I play them accordingly.

Not trusting them or getting into a relationship with them has nothing to do with them being Latinas and everything to do with them being prostitutes.

We joke about all women phucking for money, but there is a big difference in a woman's mind between phucking some guy with money and phucking a guy based upon an agreed price. The first time she knowingly took money in exchange for sex and couldn't convince herself it was something else (such as "her friend" just "helping" her) something in her changed. From that point on she knows that she can and will have sex for money if she has to.

Now, no matter how nice a girl she is, and how much she was only doing it to feed her Babi*s, whenever she needs money that isn't availible, she knows she can get it by doing what she has done before. Don't anyone think that in the event of a family emergency, virtually every whore who has ever worked in the Del Ray or any other place selling their ass, wouldn't strongly consider phucking for cash again. The funny thing is the threshold for "emergency" gets lower each time. Next thing you know, your "novia" is taking it at both ends from two gringos because she saw a really cute outfit at San Pedro mall, but you said it was too expensive.

I've seen a lot of these kind of girls in my life, not solely as a client either. Whores in Costa Rica have way more in common mentally with whores in the U.S. or Europe than with the average non-pro Tica working a regular job. Ironiclly, the ONLY girls I have ever met that were able to almost completely shake that whore mentality were the one's who started whoring because they were drug addicts. If they stop whoring AND drugs, they have a better chance of convincing themselves that the drugs made them do it, and are less inclined to go back selling their ass once they get clean and sober.
