For what it´s worth, was on the 11 pm flight from FLL to SJO last night and everything went smoothly. We left about 30 minutes late but arrived on time. :)

I think you will find that the majority of Spirits flights will be without incident just as they are on most airlines.

The problems with Spirit seem to be two fold.

1. They have a greater incidence of problems.

2. When they do experience a problem, whether it be a delay, an over booked flight, lost or delayed baggage, etc., they are totally inept in rendering even a feeble attempt to satisfy the customer.

Hopefully your flights will fall in the "no incidents" category. If not, good luck and may the Lord be with you

I flew back to FLL this morning on Spirit without incident. Flight left a little early and arrived about 30 minutes early. I have one more ticket already booked with them next month. Will post how that goes. I do have to point out that the cutomer service representatives in SJO are way better than the ones in FLL.

Screw this airline. I was there a month ago and these amateurs do not even have computers. The line to get your ticket was at least 200 deep and then they move at the pace of a special olympic hurdler. You will need to arrive 24 hours just to make the flight.

I, for one, have a great amount of respect for Special Olympic athletes, and any other person with lessor god given gifts than myself. I doubt if I had their crosses to bear, if I would even attempt an athletic event.

My hero's have always been persons who have overcome great odds, when I would have probably shrunk into my own self pity.

This is not meant to flame, but maybe point out another way of looking at these brave individuals, who want nothing more than to compete for the joy of competing. If you have never been to a Special Olympics, it is indeed very special. There is a great amount of joy and love.

Point well taken. I went and saw "The Ringer" thinking it was going to be making fun of retards, etc. However, I left the movie having a great deal of respect for them. :D

FLL to SJO on Spirit on 8/22, check in at FLL was time consuming but flight was on time. SJO to FLL on 8/27, check in was quick and flight was also on time. Not sure if I'll fly Spirit again as AA has comparable rates.

JDD: was your flight from FLL in the morning or late at night? Also, what time was flight back? And how time consuming was the check in at FLL? Trying to figure out how bad a headache I may have come Saturday morning at FLL, so I can plan accordingly. :D

I was on the 11 am flight out of FLL and the 12:45 am from SJO. Checking in at FLL took about 45 minutes and there weren't that many people in front of me, but a lot of people behind me. I arrived at FLL at about 8:45 am to check in. Hope this helps.

Just need to rag a bit on my "favorite" airline

Well I've been lucky with Spirit....that is until yesterday. Got to FLL at 8:15 for my 11:00 flight and stood on the international check in line. The place was mobbed and got worse throughout the morning. Eventually the line stretched all the way around to Terminal III. At one point i considered myself lucky. I expected a bit of a wait so I brought Harry Potter Deathy Hallows to read, Time mearched on. Eventually they pulled everyone going to Kingston off the line and set aside two agents for these people. A little later, there was a call out for Cancun passengers. Then, Santo Domingo. Two hours later (10:15) I'm starting to get a little hot because only two agents are servicing the "general" line. When I finally get to the agent this chick just yawns and blinks at me. I tell her where i'm going, she scrunches up her brow and says, "You're Late!"

Then she tells me she needs to escort me to the gate, that it's boarding. There wasn't any line at security, but she got me in as fast as possible. The flight was in "general boarding" when I got there, so I hurried onto the plane. The flight looked less than 1/2 full. GOOD, I thought. I could stretch out and took my seat. About 10 minutes later, the flight attendant announced that we would be delayed because we had to wait for a few more LATEcomers, and that "its' not OUR (read: Spirit Airlines') fault! So I sat there for another hour while the flight filled up almost completely!

Part of the problem is that Spirit now charges for checked baggage, and the agents have to spend time processing payment. Does NOT help. Incidentally they charge 1 buck for soft drinks now!

So of course we left and arrived late. And you know what that means at SJO. A back up on the immigration line. ONE HOUR to get through immigration. So from arrival in FLL to departure from SJO = 7 1/2 hours!!!

Okay crying time is over.

Catch the SPIRIT!
