Personaly, I think this law is bullshit. Take away someones drivers liscence becuase they are behind on payments doesnt seem like the way to get them to pay money its a lot harder to make money without a car doesnt that defeat the purpose?

I know a few people who pay Ch*ld support to women who just use the money to party with it does not benefit the Ch*ld in any way. Some women use the threat of Ch*ld support to try and win the old boyfriends back etc.

I think there could be better ways then taking away ones ability to drive legaly and go on vacation where he wants to. All the cases are different however and this is just my opinion I dont want to piss anyone off who might of had a bad childhood because of a deadbeat dad.
I know most fathers would rather have thier Ch*ldren live with them 6 months out of the year then to pay Ch*ld support set by the courts.

Your point that taking away someones drivers license hinders their ability to make Ch*ld support payments has some validity. However your observation that taking away someone ability to go where he wants to go on vacation while his Ch*ldren suffer from lack of his financial support is just one of the most ridiculous suppositions I have ever seen posted here.

Even the most callous individual on the face of the earth would not agree with that position. My guess is that you would send them a postcard with a view of wherever you are vacationing with the inscription:

Miss you, wish you were here, Love, Dad

My K*ds mom blew the cs on bartabs with her girlfriends. She actually showed up at my favorite wateringhole and taunted me that it was my money that she was drinking with. The bartender, a women , heard the taunting and ask me my side of the story. She cut her off and ask her to leave. this made her furious. She continued to come back in a taunt me while she waited for a cab. The bartender was an Emory student majoring in law. She offered to write an affidavent stating the events. She did and I put it in THE FILE. This was very helpful when I decided to try and get custody. It pays to be friendly and a decent tipper.

Raw- that experience must have really pissed you off. Nice work with the affidavit. I also agree that it pays to be friendly and a decent tipper. :D

Reminds me of a divorced coworker that sends 1600/mo. to an ex in FL for his 2 K*ds. He calls to see if she got the check and his daughter says, "Yeah Mom got it, she and her boyfriend went to Key West for the weekend." That poor miserable sap is so screwed but what can he do? Nothing but keep sending her $$$. :?

YO Ch*ld support:

Yea, old Circus remembers back when I was holding down two jobs in order to feed and clothe the wife with two rug rats and Circus the younger. Hell, the old lady and I were well on the skids and I had IOU's out everywhere including the collection plate at the church. It horrified me to think when we divorced how much I would be smacked with wife and Ch*ld support for many years.

Then one evening while swiging my vodka I was watching the TV and a charity commercial came on. Sadly, it showed starving Ch*ldren in India with their hands reaching out. Then the narrator and sub titles took over.... "PLEASE GIVE. FOR ONLY A DOLLAR A DAY YOU CAN FEED, CLOTHE AND EDUCATE A Ch*ld IN INDIA."

Hot Damn I shouted. The next day I bought three one way air tickedts for the K*ds and sent them to India. Problem solved.

I just wish that Circus the younger had kept his ass there.

Women should be made to show receipts.I too was burned.I paid her a check every month. We did not go through the court.Back then you did not have to.I was never late.I always keep insurance on the K*ds.And I always keep them in nice clothes.I spent time with the K*ds.IMHO I was a good Father. I was taken to court by her.She had a new live in boy friend. And they needed a bigger house. And they needed more money. And guess who they wanted to finace the new love nest.Well the rest of the story.I paid a lawyer and few thousand.Went to court.Lucky I keep every returned check and even receipts to Mc Donalds. The judge ruled that I was paying way over compaired to my salary. He pointed to all the guys in court that day,He said lady do you see all the dead beats in here that dont pay.Your lucky that your ex husband pays. You have waisted all of our time.Case dismissed. That stupid bitch. The money we spent on the lawyers. We could have put that extra money in the bank for college fund. Now my K*ds are grown, that boy friend is long gone. And I paid college for both K*ds.She chipped in nothing. So under the new law.I would have been denied a passport.Untill I got a the court case dismissed.Dale Ray

I do not think you are interpreting the law correctly. You are denied a new passport when you are behind in support payments, by more than $2500, and put on a register by either the State or a Judge. Your ex-wife taking you to court alleging you are delinquent would not pull that trigger.

I know a couple that put the Ch*ld support in the bank and when it got to $2500 they went to Vegas and lost it all. They said they were paying the boy's expenses out of their salary. The spouse recieving the CS should be forced to account for what they spend it on.

Some of these women are too much.I'm sure there are much worse stories out there.I watched my brother make his payments each month on time for 12 years. He never once complained.

I am surprised by the sentimrnt of most respondents to this question.

It is certainly the right thing to do pay for your K*ds it is the moral thing to do I agree only a low life refuses to support their Ch*ldren

But is it the governments function to impose morality?

Most people on this board have previously argued that it is not the governments job to impose morality.
