There is a studio very close to the Embassy in Rohrmoser. I do not know if it is bilingual.

Yes, It's safe to say I could use some instruction both in the spanish language
and dancing. I will certainly checkout the twofer option when I arrive. Thanks to all for the information!

One of my novias  teaches at a place called Kurubande- cerca Paseo Colon. We discussed private lessons once but always ended up doing the horizantal bop.

Dated a Cubana many moons ago here in Dallas who introduced me to Salsa and Merengue. Thouroughly enjoy it so much that I also took some dance classes to learn some more steps. Salsa and Merengue dancing is really a good form of exercise. It works all your leg muscles and stomach muscle. If you do it correctly you can work up a good sweat. 8) 8)

Hey GR.....come November we will be introducing you to SAMBA and the bunda shaking. We will be in HELPE discoteca every night so practice your erotic, sexy grinding moves on the dance floor, as there won't be any Salsa and Merengue.

Perhaps we could have Richard Simmons add some salsa, rhumba and meringue steps to his "sweatin' to the oldies" sessions at the SL. I will be there, in the first row, sporting a pink shirt, the tails tied up above my ample midriff. Any of you other sexy beatches down?

I hear Jim Witkowsi and his fellow New Hampshire volunteer firefighters are big Richard Simmons fans! :D

Being a good salsa dancer can open options related to non-pros. As long as you also have been taking your spanish lessons.

I've been meaning to do this for a while, but I've been a little reluctant to go to a class alone. I know that you will switch partners frequently, and I know that it is not an obstacle to going to take classes, but for whatever reason I feel weird about it, and nobody else I know is interested in going.

I surprise myself by saying this, because I have no problem travelling alone, going to movies alone, dining out alone, or pretty much anything else alone, but going to dance classes alone kind of weirds me out.

already I can get through some reasonably complex series of moves in pretty good shape - even if I won't be challenging "El Gordo" for supremacy on the Key Largo dance floor anytime soon.

Yes, El Gordo is probably safe for now....but we'll need to give you a nickname... how about "El Gorra" :?:

The dance lesson thing does sound like a good thing.
I spent a few days & nights w/ an x Del Rey bartender
that could dance amazing over at the Key. And yes she is
highly memorable in the horizontal bop too.
I dont know though, Ive always been pretty uncoordinated
that is until theres a guitar strapped around me. But I think Im
going to give a try.

Don't worry mi amigo - got that part of it covered....

To anyone holding off from taking lessons for whatever reason, all I can say is just dive in there and do it. Everyone in the group classes is there to learn just like you, and they'll cut you some slack if you're having trouble with something. I would also highly advise starting out with at least a few private lessons so you can at least get the basic stuff down (cross-body lead, turns, etc.) and have a little more confidence going in.

DO IT!!!

Yo Rhythm and Dancers:

Throughout my life the art of dancing has opened up many doors and made available women that I would have never had a shot at had it not been for being able to hoof it. I recommend learning to dance to anyone that wants to have better access to the ladies and also for the cardiavascular workout.

With that being said, I must add that when one passes fifty and especially sixty years of age it is very unlikely that you can use dancing as a ploy to seduce a young woman. A pro, simi-pro chica? Yea, but you are still paying for it. A 20 to 35 yr. old gringa in the states......FORGET IT.

I'll never forget an incident on my 50th birthday. Along with a couple of friends I was at a well known night club and was watching the couples dancing on the floor. I saw a women, probably about 24 to 28 yrs. old, who was a good dancer. After the dance ended I approached her and politely asked her for a dance along with qualifying that dancing was my only intention.....nothing more. She looked at me and laughed saying, "if I wanted to dance with someone as old as you I would have brought my father with me." That sure put a chill to the evening.

Yea, she was a gringa brat. But, even after tearing up the floor with a friend of mine who was a former dance instructor, I got turned down several other times hitting on younger ladies for a dance. The reality set in that my dancing ability had finally ceased to being a way to meet younger ladies that I was attracted to. Not to be denied, I visited several clubs during that magical year of 50 and came away with just about the same results. Since then I have never been back to a dancing night club.

Cruise ships opened up a little more success and I found a new avenue. One thing about women on a ship is that their peers are not watching them so they tend to expand their horizons a bit. Even an old fart like me during my 50's was able to dance his way into a younger woman's cabin.

When I reached 60 the door finally shut. Didn't matter whether it was cruises or lonely hearts club dance nights. Unless I wanted to dance with the elderly women that had been bilked thousands for dance lessons or some undersirably looking fifties grandmothers....I finally faced a void in something that had been a passion for me throughout my lifetime. I hung up my hoofs.....except for an occasional moment in CR.

My advice to those of you that enjoy music is to let it move you to move. Dancing is a great way of expressing yourself and letting off steam and problemas. Not to mention getting laid in the process. Enjoy it and it's amenities while you are young enough to receive the rewards and self gratification.

I don't like to waste my energy on the dance floor because I like to burn it doing the matress tango. :P

But I have a suggestion for all you Michael Flatley wannabees: get jobs on cruise ships as dance partners. You will have your fill of 70 year old gringas looking for that twilight romance at sea...

Good points Circus,

Most of my non-pro relationships including wife number 2 got started on a dance floor. It gives an opportunity for a natural exhibition of confidence and control, two of the key ingredients many women find attractive.

We can't all be too cool for school like Partyanimal just standing arounf looking pretty   :P . I figured out early on I needed some skills.

I dance like old people Phuck.

No dance for me. :(

Circus, your little tale of aging and rejection just depressed me nearly to the point of weeping. Thanks. :P
