Guys,

Planning a trip to SJ in a few weeks time and we may want to go to Jaco for a night just to change things up a little. Anyone have any experience with last minute bookings? We'd need 5 rooms but we really don’t want to plan in advance. I don’t think early September would be so busy but would like someone's experienced opinion. Thanks.

You will have no problem finding a room, even without a reservation, and will have leverage to negotiate a better rate because the hotels have many vacancies. Empty rooms make them NOTHING. The rates in the rainy season are lower anyway, but if you can knock off another $10-20, that's even better.

Cocal Hotel & Casino is pretty cool. The rooms are ok, but the pool and deck is very nice and there's a small casino on-site and a very good restaurant.
