I am taking a couple of new guys to SJ they think we are going golfing 36 holes a day..... yeah right there will be extra holes but not the ones they are thinking about. Anyway I noticed El presidente hotel is not listed as one of our sponsors anymore, is that a mistake? Ive been to SJ 3 times in the last year this will be my 4th time in Nov/Dec. I read so many great things about Sportsman Lodge that I am considering going there this time. But you know how it is, do I try something new or stick to what I know works. Any one been to both places and can give the pros and cons as to each establishment. I know this topic has been talked about before, but how about lately, How are these hotels now.

I can actually say El presidente is great because it is a very clean enviorment the staff bend over backwards to help, the bar in the lounge with the terrace is great when your drinking Bloody marys trying to recover as people walk on by. HDR is a hop and skip away from the hotel. They have Wifi and alway a taxi waiting when you want to go somewhere.

Negative
Only one chica which is not a horrible idea keeps the ambiance going. That is about the only negative thing I could say.

Amigos I just want to know why EXACTLY is SL better if it is?

I can answer that one. SL is more than just a hotel. The way it is setup, you become really good friends with the people that are staying there. Then it almost becomes like staying with family.

If you are looking to be EXACT, try accounting. YMWV (Your Mileage Will Vary) in most other situations in life.

Think of Cheers. :D :D Also my bed being fifty feet away from the bar, with hot young women all around, was a big plus for me.

If the Presidente fits your needs stay there and be happy, but come by the SL for a drink, and to meet some of the CRT brotherhood.

See y'all in two weeks, it is my home away from home.

ConanC, I had 7 stays at the Presidente and 1 at the Sportman's Lodge. A jr. suite with a little balcony about 6 stories up is about as good as it gets in the Presidente. Large room and great breakfast and I love avenue central in the morning. The Presidente is much more noiser in the morning that the SL. I tried to get a jr suite at the SL but had to settle for a standard deluze in the new section. I liked the carpet of the SL, the king size bed was much better than the Prez as were the sheets. the Televisions were equal except that the SL has a porno channel :D The dress code or lack of it is what makes the SL better. Plus I got a few dirty looks from gringas in the News Cafe when I'm sitting with my chica 30 yrs my junior. It's not a bad walk to the Del Rey from the SL and the taxis all know where it is. So both places are very nice and you can't go wrong either way

I like to be spoiled in my private time and the Sportsmen's Lodge is soooo comfortable like a favorite pair of shorts....

The Presidente is nice, clean and the News Cafe is great for voyuerism... The Amon/Plaza is also upscale with a fine casino and restaurant...

We can always travel to the Prez or Amon to eat, watch the chicas, gamble, etc...

But, a place that feels like home is the SL... Comfortable rooms, attendant staff, very guest friendly, nice talent around the bar, and the official clubhouse for VIPs...

Pull up a chair and set a spell... Have a drink and friendly conversation is only a few feet away... Home Sweet Home...

I'm surprised Admin1 has'nt jumped in here. I was at the Presidente last week and heard that they were dropping their sponsorship. So I asked. The response was that they were still in negotiations.

I find it hard to believe it is not of huge benefit to both parties, but maybe the Presidente thinks they can sell out without our help. My answer is - Good luck in the green season.

The proof is in the pudding. Try to book the Presidente with the discount. See what they say.

Skip Presidente and try Costa Rica Morazon. Best location of all of them. Totally guest friendly. Great rooms. $35 with the coupon from Tico times, $41 without. If you can't get into Sportsmans, this is where to go.

Don't stay at the El Presidente it is NOT chica friendly. Many other hotels in the gulch that will welcome you. La Amsistad and Morizon are better options. Plus they are only $41.00.

If you like to get hassled when you bring a chica back to your room then you will love the Hotel El Presidente.
