Jaco and the BB are everything the members of this board have said it is and is not. The town is dirty as are the beaches. The growth is phenomenal. I counted seven high rise cranes working. One building on a block is a brand new gorgeous mini mall and the next is an open air place with no sidewalk. In five years it will be a first class destination. Whether they are overbuilding is yet to be seen. Probably will not make it without the new highway. My opinion is there is so much money chasing it that somehow it will be made to work.

As for the BB, yes, it is still not air conditioned. AT least fifty chicas every nite. The black interior makes it very difficult to see and evaluate the chicas. Cien is the rule, but the rest is negotiable. Many older Colombians with bolt-ons. There were enough to choose from that I had no trouble finding someone four nites in a row. A few, but not very many, very hot, fresh chicas. When I returned to the DR, I found that crowd much fresher and pleasing.

I, too, expect this activity to be pushed off the main street, and I think that is good. I'd like the lower profile.

Paid a visit to the Beatle Bar two nights ago. The new owners did a nice job improving the place. Contrary to other reports, it was nicely air conditioned, lots of friendly chicas. A couple 10's, some shy looking locals, and the usual crowd of Colombians and Dominicans. 1500 colones for an Imperial.

I like the new look. Didn't notice the air conditioning but it was cooler than on past visits. Still wide open on the Hermosa side and the front. I was also there that night the guy was lying on the floor bleeding out of both eyes with everyone standing around just watching. Didn't think he was going to make it. Asked about him a few nights later and turns out he's fine. Some guy from somewhere in Europe who comes in and gets out of hand sometimes.

Just part of the allure that is Jaco and the Beatle Bar.

1500 for an Imperial? I noticed lots of Columbians the last time I was there. Well, somebody has to pay for the remodeling. The building going on down there as well as the pricing reminds me of where I live, Sarasota, 2 years ago. I can pay just a little more right here what they are asking. A sales rep confided in me that if I waited 2 years the pricing would proabably be a little better as she suspected that the area was being over built.

I had a conversation at the BB with a bartender one afternoon and she said the problem with hanging out in Jaco for any extended period of time is that if you don't surf there isn't much to do besides go to the bar or go back to your room with AC because it's so damn hot. I asked about the movie theater that was suppossed to go up and all 4 people at the bar started laughing. One said "yeah, and the KFC was suppossed to be finished too". That building stood uncompleted for over a year.
