Matt,

I'm impressed! You followed through with your idea to offer CRT a deep room discount. That's a very good incentive to try out the "new" Hotel la Amistad!

Peace,

Please post when the construction is completed and no construction disturbances would be experienced while lodging there. I'd like to give the place a try but will wait until you're done renovating.

Matt,
Just to clarify, are you offering a 35% discount for monthly rentals, or offering CRT members the monthly rate for stays of shorter duration?

We will have a grand re-opening when the construction is finished. It should be completed for the most part by Mid August.

I would be very careful offering discounts to bring in people.. then all you get are the lower end of the client base.. whos only loyal to the how much of a discount can i get..

these are usually the ones that travel 7 miles to save 8 cents on the gallon.. or sit with the sunday new york times and clip out discount coupons..

there is nothing wrong with that.. but are these the kinds of guys you want as clients..

I would reward loyalty though and offer discounts for repeat business..

pura vida

Great advice Matt. Just check with Eddy @ ZB and Bill @ SL so they can give you the info how offering a CRT discount has attracted "those kind of guys" and how their business has suffered as a result. :P :P :P

I think it's a real good move on Matts part. The discount percentage he is offering, for a standard room, is about the same as that offered to CRT members by the Hotel Presidente.

Moreover, the deal is good during the Anniversary Party weekend, and with the HDR, Prez and SL already sold out, he can potentially show off his newly renovated hotel to a large number of CRT members. Many of whom will write glowing trip reports creating "word of mouth" advertising that will continue long after the discount ends.

Lol ID,

Bill and Eddie sure are suffering from all the trashy low end clientele the discounts brought in. Having met Matt and discussed his plans, I anticipate him being just as "dumb" as those other two. He is a sharp guy trying hard to build a good place and rep.
