about 2 years ago my friend and a few people we met on a tour ran into a group of non-working girls walking home from a class in front of the news cafe. He invited them into the News Cafe for a drink and maybe dinner. The bar manager would not serve them and asked them to leave and turned to my friend and said this is not the Del Rey and you can't pick someone off the street and have them come in with you :?: :?: :?: I however like the prez and the fiesta casino but their rates have gotten a little too high. As one of the most famous monger hotels however they have some wierd issues.

Rates too high???? $56 for a regular room with a king size bed and the price includes breakfast....to me it is a great deal.

I did have one problem last trip bring a girl in with a skirt. It was down to her knees and she had a full lenght shirt and a jacket....go figure???

Sorry guys......I stayed at the Hotel Presidente over 25 nights and NEVER have a problem with my girl. Now granted I know they have a policy but it really is no big deal.

I have a favorite that stays with me most of the time. She comes and goes at will without any questions. Yes, YMMV....but the hotel and staff are top notch in my book.

PS....I'll be back within a month for another stay.

Some guys just don't realize when they are being shaken down for a grat. This is Costa Rica amigos! Sometimes you got to grease the wheels. If the policy is not being implented equally, maybe has nothing to do with the girls and everything to do with the Johns. If you are older and it is obvious, than they pull out the dress code and give you hassles. Put out a little cash and the world is made whole again...... LOL

Just go to the front desk and ask to speak with Daniel, the Hotel GM.

Almost book there for my trip in 2 weeks. Glad I didn't. Who wants to be hassled on vacation.

Exactly my sentiments, Richards. More bother than it is worth. If they are going to react in the way the poster mentioned above, they obviously don't want CRT business. Other boards have posted alot of complaints about this place. If they want a bunch of non-Spanish speaking gringa tourists that will bitch to no end that everything is not like home, let them have 'em. Enjoy your customer base.

Good, stay away. More room for the rest of us! :D

Me, I've got nine nights at the Prez set up for July, six of them in a spa room. Mmmm...bliss. :D

mr lv, have you ever stayed at the Presidente, or are you just jumping your 3 day old member self on the 'I hate the Presidente' bandwagon? Have you and a chica ever been turned away? Maybe with your experience you can suggest another place to stay, one you can personally vouch for.

It's cool if you don't want to stay at the Presidente. You can always go to the Morazon and get the Soprano discount.

I have been staying at the Presidente about once a year since 2000, and outside of problems changing dollars to colones, I have had zero problems. I have never had any sort of HASSLE with anybody.

Last year between Squirrel88 and myself, I guess we took 10 chicas back, never had a problem.............however we were smart enough to make sure the chicas were presentable before logging them in. It doesn't hurt a freaking thing to have them presentable at the front desk, they can get undressed in the room.

I hear good and bad about the Presidente. I will find out on my own in August. I booked room 801 for 2 nights. After saying that I will finish my trip at the SL, it's a great hotel! :D

Actually dearjohn, I have not. I have been reading many trip reports on other sites about unhappy hotel guests at Presidente. Then I read this thread that supports all the negative tr's. And CR in general seems to be off the chart lodging wise. But it is as it is. Blame the Americans. Definately not the most value oriented travel destination by far, but not bad for a try.

If they obviously did not want CRT business they have an odd way of discouraging it.

They have been a CRT sponsor sense inception. They have always offered a CRT discount. They have always donated raffle prizes for CRT functions.

Wonder what else they can do to make their displeasure with CRT more obvious?
