I've given up on AA...that airline is hopeless. Planned delays must be integral to its business strategy.

The past four legs I flew with AA (to SJO) had delays in excess of 2 hours. I was scheduled to depart SJO last Wednesday on a 7:25 am flight to MIA. I checked flight status at SL, before Interbus arrived...an 8 hour delay! I went back to bed, got up three hours later, and headed out to the AA ticket office near Sabana. The ladies at the ticket office were very sweet, and re-booked me for a Saturday departure with no change fee or hassle.

I arrive at the airport on Saturday, a 2 1/2 delay. Passengers were given two reasons for the delay: 1) the pilots needed more rest 2) the US customs computer system was down and departures could not process the passenger manifest. I'm not sure which excuse to believe...if any. There was an additional 1/2 hour delay at the gate with no explanation given.

One bright spot, though...I forgot to place my knife in my checked seabag. An understanding supervisor at the counter called security, and was able to slip the knife into an outside pocket of the seabag. I am now willing to bite the bullet and pay Continental a little more for a straight shot out of Newark.

I have never had any major problems with AA. I always use them to go to the Dominican Republic. I will try them to CR in August. For my first trip to CR we used Spirit. The flight was ok but they are not friendly. I hope my AA flight is not as bad as some have posted.

I have used AA numerous times w/ no delays or problems. Even booked my Labor Day trip 4 mo. in advance & checked two mo later & noticed the ticket had gone down 60.00. Called them on it & they credited it to my credit card.

Apparently you did not get the jest of my post. We jab at each other in a fun way and if we have serious questions then we address them in a cordial way.......that is, for most respectful hombres on here.

For the record, after viewing the actual email, I am 100% convinced that the AA note is legit. Never had a doubt anyway since PIDD said it was so. My only displeasure is that they never give old Circus shit when it comes to miles or service. After a PM from senor PIDD I truly believe that since he handled the situation in a cordial manner ....the AA employee took note of it and pushed that magic button on the keyboard that rewarded him with a nice perk.

Shit, the last time a gate AA person did that for me I was arrested by security.....I seem to have that pitiful flair about me.

One thing I forgot to mention is that when I first read PIDD's initial post, I first reacted that he was funning with us very similiar to some past April fools' posts. Lying was never an issue because I know this hombre who not only loves women but loves to joke around with friends....never a dull moment around this guy. That is why I stated, "Quit shaking the bush." For those of you who do not know that famed quote, Shaking the bush boss.".....it comes from the movie "Cool Hand Luke." Guess I've got to educate a few to humor on here.

Anyway, I agree with PIDD about the founding posters on the old board and the ones that came over to this much better organized venue. I will say that we have had some new blood that have come on board with a lot of good info and good writing. I welcome that and I believe it will overshadow the potholes along the way.

Just my 2 cents......that's about all I'm worth.
