Best buys are at the duty free shop in the airport upon arrival before 9PM.

In the stores, domestic vodka, gin, rum is cheap and good.
Imported scotch and whiskey is sort of pricey.
Wines are about the same as in US.
Beer is good and cheap.

Beer (local) at the supermarket came to less than a dollar per six pack. Never bought liquor (duty free was closed when I landed).

Damn Mia, where did you find beer for less than $1 a six-pack. I buy Imperial and Rock Ice at the local supermarcado and it is just a little less than $1 per can at 450 colone per :?

Think maybe you must have consumed the 6 pack and perhaps more before you got to the cash register. Local beer is about 400 colones (.77 cents) per can at Mas x Menos.
