The Coribici is the best one . There is one in the new plaza across from the NYB on the second floor that over looks the the walking street. It is right behind the Horseshoe. It is pretty good.

Sakura located in the Ramada Herradura (Cariari) is one more you can try.

Ichiban in Pavas, 150 meters north of Aya, is very good!

I haven't been to Sakura in a while but I always thought it was better than Fuji in the Corobici. Sakura is a longer ride from the downtown area.

There is a Benihanas not too terribly far from the gulch... I saw it on the way to the American Embassy just last month, but unfortunately am not knowledgeable of the Barrio where I saw it. If that Benihanas is true-to-form with the rest of the franchise stateside, then that should be a good choice for sushi.

I have been to the Benihanas its over in Savanah near the Barcelo hotel.
Its decent food but not near as good as other Benihanas I have been to. It is also more expensive than the US for many menu items????
My girlfriend had the California rolls (very weak), and I the rainbow roll(decent) and tuna roll(mediocre).
I rate the sushi a 7 there.
The fried rice was marginal.
The Rockies choice (chicken and steak) was good though

Ichiban In Rorhmoser is very good. From PLaza Mayor on Rohrmoser Boulevard go 1 block south on the croos street. It is on the right. Plaza Mayor is maybe a kilometer west of Sabana Park.

I know this is not what you are looking for but if you ever make to Jaco Tsunami Sushi is awesome. I took ChiTrekker and GR there on a trip last yer and I thought it was excellent.

Went to the Japanes restaurant in Plaza Itkatzu last week. I cannot remember the name. However, it is a very attractive place with a teppanyaki area and sushi bar. I ordered a selection of sushi and rolls and thought it was very fresh tasting and good. Would give it 3 1/2 chopsticks out of 4.

For those looking for good restaurant choices Plaza Itzkatsu has about 12 restaurants all in one small outdooe mall area.

Tapas - Good Spanish food - Flamenco dancers -upscale Asta's husband is a waiter there
Japanese pLace - see Ciao's note
Cuban Place - Very good
Mas Tquila - More bar like Tex Mex menu - music on weekends - hot non pros
Mexican place - typical average Mexican
Hooters
Outback
About three or four more that I can not remember.

The plaza is located right on the autopista in Escazu about 1 kilometer east of the MultiPlaza

Another nice restaurant in that plaza is called "Tutti Li". It's an upscale Italian restaurant. A little pricey, but excellent food.
