In today's A.M CR,

In another case Friday afternoon, a 35-year-old man was found dead in his room in the downtown Hotel Del Rey .

A Fuerza Pública officer identified him as Daniel Antonio Rahyli.

A security guard at the hotel found the man in the room, the officer said. There was no immediate indication as to the cause of death.

Wow, CR must have the best and fastest chemical forensic work-up in the civilized world to pronounce the cause of death within minutes.

Phoenix, how can you say such a comment....Everyone knows she rifled through his pockets down in the Blue marlin and then again while groping him in the elevator on the way up and lastly when he went into the bathroom.

Funny comment by the way..

Spanky: I'm referring to the numerous posts here that used the word "coke" or "cocaine". Cheers. Wile Coyote

My initial questions were:
If in fact he died from a coke OD, where did he get it? Was he crazy enough to bring it in to CR himself? Or did he buy it off the street from those leeches outside the HDR? No offense to anyone on the board who may have ever done this but...can you imagine being stupid enough to buy drugs from some guy outside the HDR?

That's nothing but a bunch of politically correct mumbo jumbo. To assert that snorting coke up one's nose is NOT the individuals fault is nothing but a rationalization of malo behavior. In reality 99.9999% of the time no one is holding a gun to a coke snorter's head. It's a choice the individual makes. This is nothing but an attempt to shy away from personal responsibility. Your statement is oxymoronic.... it's NOT your fault, but you are responsible and must be held accountable.

Berk...........

To critique the issue on merrit is one thing; I actually take issue on some of the addiction research that supports the disease model, and the largest logitudinal study suggests that people have more choice than some would like to think. Regadless, there is evidence to support both positions. Yet, to say that it is" politically correct mumbo jumbo" is like saying "they say" or "my mother told me" or more accuratly "your facts don't count since they mess with my values." With all due respect, that is a cope out, and since you are calling others on the carpet, I call BS on that lazyness. Using the bash "politically correct" is a lazy, cowarly way out. Now, try expressing your ideas on the matter, instead of discounting what others have said with such happy horsepucky. Insidenctly, I think using illegal drugs in CR is pretty goofy as well.

Respectfully,

Psychman

I have been an alcoholic that was told by the head doctor of the Orange County Alcoholism Program I would be dead in the gutter by the time I was fifty. They wouldn't even let me in the program because I was "too far gone". I have been a drug addict specializing in pot, speed, and LSD as my drugs of choice, but basically anything that someone had in their pocket. Also addicted to nicotine, which was the hardest to break for me.

While I am not smart enough to know if these are diseases, but I choose to believe they were my choices. It is my addictive personality, which I believe was facilitated by being an athlete. To reach the highest levels that I reached I had to give 150%, because everyone knows that all athletes give 110%, and I chose not to be average. This has carried through in my life. If one is good, 100 are great.

When I had bleeding in the brain, I could not just have chosen to mentally change that behavior and make it happen, any more than I could with cancer, ALS, or other diseases. The addictions in my life I have chosen to leave behind, although I will drink on the weekend, if I am not driving. IMHO, not a choice with a true disease.

I don't hold my thoughts on this to be an absolute truth, especially in respect to others. This is just a small part of this old farts life. Not something I am especially proud of, but if it causes another to consider a change if they are ready, it has been worth giving my dos colones.

Now back to reading about poosey!!!

Health & happiness

Where exactly do most people buy drugs? Its not like you walk into the supermarket and ask for a gram of coke. Your only options are the guys on the street.

Hey Jmac -

I was thinking the same thing. You buy drugs off the street in your hometown. Why would it be any different in another country?

You should see all the young rich gringos in their parents SUV's driving into the "Westside" of Chicago to buy dope from a dope dealer on a corner. That's how you do business, from my experience.

No, you don't go in to the supermarket to buy coke. But, if you are a repetitive user, you will find a "trusted" source to buy your drugs. I am sure if your addiction is strong enough eventually you won't care where the drugs come from. If I am going to do drugs in CR and it is premeditated I would much, much prefer to buy from my trusted source than to walk the streets in some foreign country looking for a hit. I mean, none of the people involved in this activity are choirboys. So, to my original question, I wonder where the actual drugs were acquired. If outside the HDR, who knows what the ph*ck he actually bought. It might have been rat poison passed off as coke. Get my point?

Yeah I see what your saying, but the fact is he probably doesnt have a credible source for such things.

He, like all of us on our first trip, probably ran into Ronnine or Steven or one of the other guys outside the DR, they probably threw the "Anything I can help ya with man? Girls, drugs, viagra??" Well damn, can you get me a gram of coke?. "Suree, Ill be back in 5 minutes, be outside"

Unless youve been there a billion times and have some weird death wish, I dont think your going to march on down to the red light to find your dealer. Its just 100x easier getting it from one of the guys out front, paying a 10$ premium or whatever they ding ya, and thats it.

At least, thats how I can see 99% of the guys on a 4-5 day vacation doing.

Not trying to argue with you at all, I just think your thought process, and the thought process of the average guy who walks into that hotel, arent on the same page. Most of the guys in there have never heard of CRT, thus, they dont know that 99.999% of those guys out front are there to rip you off in some way, theyre all criminals, etc.

But really, it is no different then back home. If you want some coke/pot whatever in your home town, and you have no sweet clue where to get it, theirs a good chance the hustler on the corner can get you anything you want.
