I had never seen one before coming to Costa Rica. It does seem like a good idea to create hot water in a shower, where for some reason or other, it wouldn't be possible any other way. I have never heard of anyone being killed in one of these "suicide showers," but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

Yep! That is exactly what a calidor shower is. I fixed one for the family I stayed wth in Guatemala.
