Walk in the door, Jr Suite on Left, Presidential Suite on Right. walk past the Jr Suite directly next is Paz, turn corner to the left Amor and Buena Vida back to back..To the right of the Presidential is the front desk, across from that is Tranquilidad.....

Back to back from Buena Vida and Tranquilidad are Belleza and Esperanza which open right on either side of te bar....Those are all of the courtyard rooms, then Pura Vida, Fiesta and Alegria are in the back House section which is accessed through the front desk area

I stayed upstairs in EL DORADO which is a standard delux. I thought the king size bed was great. The view out the window was not very nice. The bathroom was good. This room was very quiet and the only noise was between 7-9 pm at night which was not a problem. In the mornings it is quieter than the Presidente which is the only place I can compare to. At least 2 of the chicas I brought back would have not passed the Prez dress code. The SL may be $20 a day more than Castillo but it also has combination safes which to me is a must have. It feels like a home, there are plenty of wingmen, so for the money it is a very good value. Also walking distance to ZB, NF and Cafe Mundo. Just my humble opinion

Completely agree with you on El Dorado, stayed there a week in April and it was great as usual, bt this thread was referring to the courtyard rooms which I will not stay in since the new wing opened due to the issues raised in this thread mainly noise.....I like to sleep late at times and like it quiet until 9 or 10 AM..

Will be staying AGAIN in the new wing in about 2 weeks

I will post a trip report when I get back, courtyard VS new wing.
My first knight is in the courtyard, then off to the new wing, for the rest of my week

I've stayed in Amor (1 night), Belleza (3 nights) and Hermosa in the new wing (8 nights). While I wouldn't voluntarily stay in Amor again, Belleza was fine. The noise never bothered me much. The bed in Belleza is comfortable, the shower works, the safe works, the TV works and the room seems secure.

I am booked over Labor Day weekend in Felicidad, the Junior Suite in the old section and am very much looking forward to it.

As has been said numerous times, Bill is a consumate host, and his employees do a fine job of keeping guests happy. BTW, please don't hit on the bar staff/front desk staff. There has recently been a bit of discomfort on the part of some female employees, who will be the first to tell you that they are neither putas nor zorras. Gentlemen, let's be gentlemen.

Oh, BTW, Angelica gives a first-rate non-sexual massage, maicures and pedicures. Ask at the front desk.

Another thing: The kitchen at the SL is very good for Tex-Mex and American favorites. I enjoyed their best of show Club Sandwich, the hot dog (!) plate, the chicken quesadilla and breakfast during my last visit, even though I wasn't a guest of the SL. Food is fairly priced and very good, and if you're a card-carrying VIP, present your card when ordering and again when paying the bill to receive a 10%discount off your food/beverage.

Ok, I've only been to SJO 2 times and both times I stayed at the SL. both trips were great, I was there in September of '05 and March of '06.

My trip in September I stayed in the old section of the hotel, I can't remember the name of the room, however my March trip I stayed in the El Rey in the new wing.

I found the old wing to be more quiet and I just liked the feel of the old room, more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel. this by the way was before they had air conditioning in the old wing and I never would have wanted it or used it anyway.

I just like the absolute zero stress I have enjoyed both trips at the SL, I guess for each his own as far as what kind of room they want.

I just stayed in the PAZ. the first night I was awakened at 4am by either some chicas or someone talking in the hall. I walked outside and asked what was up. anyway the next day I found a set of earplugs on my dresser. what the heck! I tried them out and never heard another thing the next 5 nights. heads up to the sportsmans!
