If you are like me, you find that your trips to SJO are lacking at times because you do not speak good Spanish. I was exposed to an easy and free way to learn Spanish which should help a bit. Go to
www.learner.org . Click on Destinos and you are on your way.
Oh, I forgot to mention that you will have to register but that is free as well. You will select different options on the right side of the page and then watch the videos (Individual Program Descriptions). Go through the tutorial and eventually you will go through a soap opera which is narrated at times in both English and Spanish. The goal is to get the student familiar with conversational Spanish.
There is a workbook that you can buy to make the lessons stick with you a little more
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/searc ... ss=default Which I might recommend to get the full effect. Buy the $16.00 workbook and that should be enough IMO. It comes with an audio aid but it is a cassette (At least mine did). Sorry guys, but it is an old learning system and wait till you see the lap top computer in the video.
I started taking a conversational Spanish class today, and this is the focus of a great deal of the work that I have to do. If you want to learn Spanish, save some money, then try my suggestion first. If this does not work for you……….well……….we tried…….and you can try another means.
I’m sure if you understand the basics, then this will help a great deal.
If any of you have any questions, PM me or post it to the board and I’ll assist as best I can.
