I am at the Hotel Presidente now. There has certainly been a change in the policy. If the chica is not with you she will get a hastle if anything is showing. If you are with her there doesn't seem to be a problem. Most women in CR seem to wear short tops. If my belly was slim and rock solid I would want it to show also in this weather. A light sweater or jacket will certainly solve the problem.

I believe the Hotel is keeping the chicas ID and giving them a visitor card. Everything turned out fine. When we went downstairs in the morning and the staff had changed and they did give her a second look.

The staff will quickly learn who you are and then there is no problem.

OK, chica is still with me... so I have to go!!!!!

Not a whore hotel? LMAO! If they are admitted at all then the hotel qualifies as such. There also is alot of talk about "ugly Americans" going on. I imagine that most of us have it in us to be an ugly American when being inconvenienced over some stupid shit while on vacation. The worst part is that we have already spent good money there. Looks to me like whoever had this brain-fart of an idea is just too stubborn to admit this policy is unfair. Bet ya there are more of us complaining about "it" than people complaining about the girls. :x

Im not sure who is having a problem with the girls to be honest. Most of the employee's make some funny comments about how hot they are.

If I had to guess, I would say some group of people, who probably frequent the hotel made a complaint, and they would rather keep them happy then have them leave.

Nothing really adds up though. They dont need any one group of people to stay there. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get a room there withuot booking way in advance.

So if they did screw off some Christian group, who really cares? They can fill those rooms up just like that.

I recently stayed at the Hotel Presidente for 6 nights. I want to give my first hand assessment of the new dress code policy. The Hotel is certainly watching the dress closely. Interpretation is on an individual basis depending on who is working. All in all things seem fair and for the most part hassle free (if you are with the visitor). A visitor entering on their own will be confronted more vigorously than with a hotel guest. The rule apply to the News Café as well as the hotel. I did see some people having some problems being turned away from the restaurant and a few girls waiting at the gate while their new friends went up to the rooms to retrieve a shirt or jacket.

The Del Rey crowd is will aware of the policy. They are carrying light jackets or sweater so its not a problem for them. I always make a point to get to know the guards. If I am having a visitor arrive without me I normally tell the guards to be on the lookout for them. My visitor never has a problem then with the guards.

From a service and quality of hotel stand point I still believe the Hotel Presidente is a great value. I personally enjoy each stay. I will be staying there again on my next trip. I believe that as time goes on the staff will have a more uniform interpretation of the policy and things will go smoother. As for me, six nights no problems! Another great trip and a quality first class hotel experience. I really enjoyed the jet tub in my room!!!!

Thanks for the report! I still am against the hotel's policy - and their leaving it so open to interpretation by doormen etc. - but this is good, to hear that you had no problems. It just seems hypocritical to me, for them to make a deal with CRT and then at the same time, make this Draconian dress code policy.

Anyway, thanks for reporting your experience.

From an amigo -his experience last night.
Quote:
Had the dress code problem. She had a short skirt, but I didn't think it was that bad. Well they wouldn't let her in even after I spoke with the manager. And they wouldn't let her wear my clothes either. So we went back to the DR and she suggested I get a room there (short term). I thought there was a deal for that, but no, $92 for the night. Well I hadn't seen anyone else of interest and I really wanted her so I went for it. But after all that I just wasn't in the mood and didn't enjoy it that much. I'm thinking about going back to the other hotel. Otherwise 1/2 of the chicas are off limits.
Filled him in on Motel Eden and La Hotel Officina, much better bargains than the HDR for a night, especially when you're already paying for a jacuzzi suite at the Pres. being cock-blocked at the front door does ruin the mood usually.

They wouldn't let her wear any of his clothes from the gate to the elevator?
This is getting a little rediculous.

I'm curious at what time of day this occurred. I also wonder if late night they would be any more lenient.

Not sure how late last night Wit. but it doesn't seem to make a difference as much as the discretion of those enforcing it. My amigo's not on CRT but is a regular guest at the Pres. Not trying to stir this topic up again but thought his current updates were relevant.
Quote:
I was asking the front desk about the dress code and no one can explain it. He told me a skirt no more than 4" above the knee. Then I pointed out a woman in the lobby that had a much shorter dress and asked him why she was there. He didn't have an answer. And there's women in there with tank tops on as well...

There you go, no skirts 4" above the knee and no bare shoulders, enforced at will :?
or is that willy nilly? :)

AAWWWW Crap don't tell me my lab coats won't work.

I hope this isn't completely accurate.
I'll just have her put it on before she even gets to the gate. I just say its her coat.
Its ridiculous if other none working chicas can were the more risqué clothing.

Most places of class globally provide a cover as needed should a lady or man show up that does not meet the dress codes. In many parts of the world this is a loss of face at the better establishments not to provide such an option. That way everyone is happy. Especially in parts of the world where most people will be on the take if they can be. This keeps the hotel from having to worry about their security rolling their guests. This way security never has the option to turn someone away unless they truly deserve it. This keeps the hotel happy and guests happy for what amounts to nothing. Piss off 1 person and they tell 20 people. Good PR does not go as far but it is way better than bad PR. The solution is simple. The ladies quickly learn what is expected and nobody gets pissed. The hotel can fix this easily if they want to.

In this case, they pissed off a few people and we told about 7000.

Firstly knowing how deceptive internet hotel room pictures are and the prices the Presidente is charging I wouldn't stay there anyway!
Looks like the Castillo is a much better deal.
Secondly having been to have fun in Pattaya I object to just about any restriction whatsoever. So the 'Prez' can forget about ever getting any money from me. Planning my next trip right now (reason I have reappeared on ths forum) It will be Costa Rica because of cost.
I love Thailand but the plane fare is excruciating. All in all the trip to CR should be much cheaper. I wouldn't think of jeapardising the trip with any nonsense from somewhere like El Presidente.

For me Staying at the Prez is also about the energy of Central Ave
the people, the sights, the News Cafe and the smells among other things.

I stayed at the SL because of the dress code, but I have to admit I really love Central Avenue in the morning and the energy around sundown. Also the clippopy clop of those high heels on the tile at all times of the night. 8)

Luckily for me, I won't be staying at el Prez during my Memorial Day trip. I was lucky enough to get a room in the new wing at SL thanks to a buddy so I don't need to deal with any of that.

I will say the Sportsman knows how to treat its guests....

Bill and his crew go out of their way to make you a happy camper..

PS:No Black-list either like some other Hotel...Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... :roll::roll::roll:
