Yea... like anyone cares. I have been a VIP since Aug 04 which seems like yesterday... almost 3 years though. I'm sure I'll get around and renew before my next trip in 3 weeks or so. The reason, though, I have put it off is I get a little pissy when I log on and start to read some posts and then click on the 2nd page and I have timed out so to speak. I think it is like 15 minutes and you better move on or forget about the new post being displayed. I'm sure it has something to do with bandwidth and keeping the costs down or maybe not. It still makes me pissy though. :x

Oh well, like this one little post is gonna make a difference. :)

Berk......

P.S. Funny thing...... I clicked on the CRT logo and went back to the main page... clicked "new posts since last visit" and everything reappears even though I have never logged off.

The Presidente just called. Said you left your gallon size can of redneck, trailor trash like lube (Crisco) in your room on your last trip. I gave them your address. Said that "Crisco" was not actually your preferred lube but your novia. She should be home soon. :D  :D

With all due respect your about the only person, that I have heard of having problems with accessing the site speed wise. Berk I say this with all sincerity, what ever the problem is it is not on our end.

I run a dedicated server nobody else is on it but CRT. I spend 20X the cost of regular hosting to have nobody or nothing interfere with speed of the server. I have log files showing that never more than 6% of the server is in use at one time that go back over 3 years. Most of the time it runs about 1% usage talk about overkill. I have unlimited bandwidth so that is not even a consideration, Even dial up customers in the far reaches of man, have no issues with speed.

So I say this again we are I am not cutting costs, bandwidth or anything else for that mater. I suggest you look within your computer, browser, and settings as the problem does not originate here, that I can assure. you.

I might also point out I have no idea of knowing if this is the reason, but you have a Changing IP address. It never remains constant. Everyone of your posts is from a different IP, I beleive the works is Dynamic geeks please correct me if I am wrong. With that said I defer back to you, there is nothing wrong with the server, site or its speed. Sorry.

I experience the same situation as Berk. I am not computer literate enough to know if any of those things on my computer can be changed to fix the problem. However I really do not see it as a problem but rather a minor inconvenience. As Berk said there is an easy fix...

A minor inconvenience not a major problem for me.

That happens to me too. It's supposed to happen this way. It doesn't remove threads that you visited, it just gets rid of the little symbol that tells you there is a new post in that thread. If you see this symbol next to the name of the thread (Image), it means that there is a new post in that thread which you haven't read yet. If you go back to the main page and click "new posts since last visit" it will still show the same thread you just read but with the symbol (Image).

I'm no expert but I'm very computer literate and I have a very fast connection. It happens to everybody.

Same problem here. I log on, submit handle and password and go directly to the VIP pic section. But everytime I click onto another section it makes me sign in again. If I surf the net and than decide to return to CRT my account it still active. It's been this way since day one. To me it's just an inconvenience.

Even though I spent much time on CRT and surfing the net I'm not computer literate.

I have to sign into the pics section and the forum section separately as well. I thought that was by design, and considered it to be a minor inconvenience

OK Now reading this again, lets address a few questions..

First off the time out thing has been in place since June of last year..

https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7603

It is not about bandwidth its about board functionality. simply stated there is no way around this issue, the software design and the ever present robots and spam attacks make this imperative that there is a 15 minute time limit. Simply move between any section, post anything & it does not happen.

The problem with asking you to logon again is is either because you use AOL or because you have not cleaned out your cookies for the site. Clean your browsers cache & cookies then resave the bookmark & logon, you wont have that problem.

Last but not least it is by desing to sign into the VIP section and the forum separately there is no type of integration since they are two completely different databases.

I hope that answers your questions.

Thomas,

Thanks for following up.

I will try the suggestion regarding the deleting cookies.

As always, great job!

Wow. Admin Uno is not only an ace with the ladies; he is also a computer genious. Unfortunately, it's all way over my head.

Berk2302:

It must have been too long between trips. You're getting frustrated and taking your anger out on a defenseless software program. Suck it up and hang in there think positive thoughts and before you know it you'll be sitting on a bar stool at the Del Rey. If I can find a way around a little commitment I made I might see you there in three weeks or so.
