I just sent a really sweet text msg. to a chica and the response she sent was: Que curioso!

translation please..?

Is that like Que peculiar? O mas como, Que romantica? Que es curioso?

She doesn't "work" and on a scale from 1-10, she's about a 13 and a half, so i can't wait to learn what curioso means.

It could be like you said "how peculiar" ("Things that make you go hmmm...."), depending on the context, or it could be "how curious are you..." if you asked her something. (What did you ask her? )

I think it's more like the latter.

"Are you curious"? or "Why are you curious"? I don't think she's curious. I just think she wants to know if you're curious, and why.

My take is this, and of cousre, the context of the conversation would be key.


"Porque estas curioso" would be her question if she wanted to know why you were curious.

The use of Que in this sense is also used as in Que Lastima (what a shame), Que Barbaridad (How crude), Que Suerte (how lucky or fortunate) or in this case, How Bizzar, odd, strange, or curious.

Oh, shit, I jsut read your post above. Yes, she is saying how bizzar, I think, that you would not risk coming over. Remember, to a Latina, caretaking is a centeral value- sounds like she felt blown off, and said how bizzar...

I think you are over-analyzizng the situation. If it was bizarre or strange, she would have said "Que extraño".

That's the thing about Spanish, context is so important that one thing can me so many different things. Even when you are actively conversing with someone it can be tricky.

I'm hoping she's curious about me. That my poetry is working it's wonders, and she just can't get me out of her mind.

Seriously, IMO, what she said was more along the lines of "muy interesante."
