In case it hasn't come up before spirit airlines travel policy has changed and will now be charging for EVERY piece of checked luggage(this does not count carryons). Its not much like 10 bucks. They also charge for snacks and drinks and the new policy for those who don't know is you cannot board any aircraft in Costa Rica with drinks even if you purchased them in the airport. I know this doesn't sound like much adding 15-20 bucks to your overall ticket price but just something to consider when comparing with an airline you perfer.
I know this isn't the first airline that has attempted this route as Taca charges for food also. I personally perfer the food taken out of the ticket price since I don't usually eat anything on the plane. I also tend not to check baggage.

Charged... but since mid-April there is FREE meal served on every flight. Full hot meal for flights over 3 hrs. Taca also has a free open bar.

Thanks ID , I didn't see you could pre-purchase it for a lower rate. The reason I brought it to the attention of the board is cause I didn't find out about the charge until one day before my flight. I guess its up to you to actually read the fare details and rules before purchasing a ticket but I'd say most people would take for granted they can check at least 1 bag on any flight for free as long as its not overweight.
