I went through Nixon and got room for Super Bowl weekend. I made the mistake of giving them a credit card for incidentals and ended up getting charged $376 for two nights. Yes I paid at the casino and presented the voucher. I am still battling the charge. My mistake, do not make the same.

Phreespirit,

What was charged to your credit card? Drinks? Food? Room charges? What mistake did you make? Leaving your credit card for incidentals? Hopefully it is a mistake that is easy to clear up. I know of very few hotels that do not require a credit card for just that reason.

You have given us precious little information to justify your warning not to leave a credit card for incidentals at the Amon.

Ciaociao

Last year, I paid using my CC at Amon Plaza. I paid at the casino prior to checking in. Our recently departed friend Graeme (R.I.P.) ran my charge and gave me my voucher. When I went to the desk to check-in, I was not asked for a CC for incidentals. On check-out, I was asked if I used anything in the mini-bar and that was it.

I agree with CC8576309 (:P). We need more details about what was charged, etc. before anybody can take this seriously.

Over four months and still no resolution? Really need a lot more details for this all to come together.

They charged me for the room on my card. I am returning next week and will attempt to resolve in person. I called immediately upon my return when I checked account activity. They replied it was a preauthorization and would come off in 72 hours or so. A week later it was still there. I called again and was told it would be credited. A week later it was not. I enjoyed my stay there, except for the mini bar person leaving my door ajar. I will defininetely stay again if I can get this cleared up. Maybe I will just stay there on this trip so I can deal with it without special trips to the hotel. Thanks for the info on them not requiring a cc from you guys. I will just inform them I will not have any incidentals and not leave a cc. They were nice when talking with them, but no action. As it is CR, I gave them extra time to clear it up. I did finally argue the charge with my cc company, but what an unnecessary hassle. As cc companies suck, they keep asking me to supply the same info over and over. Yes, they are considerably responsible for my angst. Maybe post should read "No need to give cc for incicentals at Amon Plaza. Thanks for the feedback.

Before I ate out every night, back I used to be in the merchant processing industry.

A pre-authorization DOES NOT SHOW up on your bill ever unless they confirm the charge or close the bill stating the amount of the final transaction.

Dealing with typical Tico mentality either they made the mistake during the initial transaction and did a Charge not an Pre-Auth or they closed the bill out as unpaid for more likely and it turns into a charge. Either way this is a front desk Snafu that they should have fixed rather quickly.

I'm sure they will be able to fix this for you upon your next trip, but your right unnecessary time effort and aggravation. Since I put many of my visiting friends into the Amon, through Nixon, thanks for the update as I'll make them aware of front desk problems, glad to hear it was not Nixons doing...

Nixon was great! Yes, it was the front desk. Sorry if the post in any way suggested it was Nixon or the Casino Paradiso's error. It was very simple and a pleasure dealing with them for the room and the voucher process was easy. If the post saves any of your friends from being inconvenienced, great. That is why we have an open forum for ALL experiences. Bad luck on my part.
