Has anyone been to any meeting socials? The ones where you RSVP and there are women in different age brackets. I am pondering the thought of trying to meet a "nice" girl. Anybody have any insight on the matter?

YO youdoo:

Is this a serious inquiry?

What is your definition of "socials."Not to mention "nice girls."

Damn !! This is just too tempting to answer in a Circus mode. Since you are new I will refrain from the obvious.

My respectful answer is that you had better have more than just a week or two in country to even find that type of situation.....unless you are really lucky. Yes, there are numerous "nice" girls but if if you are speaking of virgins then forget it.....percentage wise you are into und***ge.....really und***ge. I hope that is not what you are refering to.

More importantly, if you are seeking a quote "nice" legal age lady who is nice to be around and not a pro or semi-pro you had better have a network of friends living there or be just plain lucky......and again, have a lot of time to look around.

Please fellows, don't get carried away with this hombres's question. I know, I know......it's difficult.

I just hate it when someone uses the term "nice girl." It has so many meanings. To old Circus a nice girl is one that returns a hello without spitting in my drink. Shit, I'm not hard to please.

Im talking about the arranged social parties. the ones where men and women go to meet. Almost like that speed dating thing. its just a place to meet women in a social atmosphere. Thats what I meant. i see them all the time online and was wondering of anyone has been to one of these type functions. Sorry I wasnt enough in detail about what I was asking. Ive been here for 3+ years now. I have heard about these things but nothing first hand and I would like to now if these type of social events are any good. I was told the women are from 20s-40s. I am not into unde__age girls at all.

"A Foreign Affair" used to hold parties at the Hotel Castillo some time ago. It was interesting to watch the men that had flown in from the U.S. to attend these functions. These men would be at breakfast in the morning and would listen to us "hardcore mongers" talking about our activities. It wasn't long till these guys were asking questions, like...where to go?... what massage parlors were the best?...and all the other standard questions. Seems they soon realized that the "short term" romances were more fun than pursuing the "long term" romances. :)

I think A Foreign Affair still does hold parties in San Jose, but I'm not sure where. Someone had told me the parties are held at a location, not too far from the Castillo.

A Foreign Affair is located just a block downhill from the Castillo. I had planned to visit but forgot all about it when I got there. It was closed when I walked by about 6 pm one night. Looks like it is someone's house that doubles as an office.

In 1999 I joined an intro service on the internet. I joined the service ($900 for a lifetime membership or until I got married) and went to Cali just for a "recon" mission. It turned out that not only was the service legit but the girls were also legit.

On my second night in Cali there was a group of about 8 Americans and 12 girls from the intro service who all met at one of the local discos.
There was a young lady in the group who asked me to dance and within 3 days I was on my way home to begin the visa process. I was 18 1/2 years older than her but that was never an issue. No, we didn't have sex in those 3 days. That would have to wait for my next trip 2 months later.

We were married nine months after meeting and it lasted for 5 years. She wanted a baby and I said no from the first night we went out. We are still friends (she is remarried). She has 4 friends who also met guys the same way. One is divorced (the guy was a jerk) another got divorced from a much older guy (more than 30 years and word was he couldn't get it up but I think she was also looking for a better arrangement) and the other two are still happily married after 7 years.

So yes, it can work.

My suggestions for meeting someone would be:
1. Learn Spanish.

2. Try the internet introduction sites before spending any money for a "service". There are a number of websites where you can meet women on your own. (amigos.com, cibercupido.com, etc). If you prefer going the intro service route you can find many online that have profiles and can provide email or mail addresses and telephone numbers.

3. The intro service "parties" are often such a cattle call that the girl of your dreams might be there and you would never know it. Some of the best girls have been to a few and gotten tired of the whole scene. But of course there are always new ones to take their place. Most girls have a friend or cousin who has been a member and many have actually met a guy and moved to the USA so it is becoming a very accepted way to meet men. Of course the chance to improve their way of life (and that of their family) is also a big selling point. But when you get right down to it, isn't that what we all are trying to do way or another?

4. If you find one (or more) that you are interested in, take the time to get to know them very well before making any commitments. Find out what her intentions really are. If she interested more in coming in the USA than she is in you then pass on her.

5. Don't try to impress them with your big house, car, boat, money. Those things should be last on the list.

There are oodles of availabile women in Latin America. Many of them are of the "nice girl" variety. Just take your time and do your homework.

My wingman and I went by the "foreign affair" office and "smelled a rat". We went to the hotel the night of the $350.00 "social", and looked in the room at the "social". We laughed all the way back to the DR because so many of the "nice" girls in the room were from the DR.

As always, YMMV.

Sounds like the thing to do is get to the bar at the Patio restaurant in the Balmoral some Saturday night about 8:45, order a drink, and wait for the lovely ladies who did not hook up. Sure they would like to have some nice gringo buy them a drink.

If it works you saved $350.00 if not you wasted an hour and a few bucks for the drink you ordered.

A few years ago it was 25.00 per intro, 150.00 for the regular socials and 250.00 for the New Years social, they have really jacked up the prices since then.

AFA (like all CR dating sites) undoubtedly has a few working chicas in the mix looking for romance, true love, financial security or all of the above.

You know ID, I smell an inexpensive opp here   I wonder if the darlins self esteem could be at a low at this critical point and seize upon the chance to wisk one away with just a minimal investment.
Hell maybe find a couple so beaten down that even Circus could take one back to the cardboard inn :P

Paco is correct about the cost of the party being $150 several years ago. I know, because while staying at the Castillo back then, I met the guy who ran A FOREIGN AFFAIR. He tried real hard to get me to attend a social, but I declined. At the time, A FOREIGN AFFAIR was leasing the entire restaurant and bar area which is now known as "The Gardens." The guy's wife, Maria [a real tica cutie] was the bartender. I'm sure many of the guys here remember her. :)

To an interesting question circus gives his usual worthless, uncalled for opinion. He needs to get off his pulpit of B.S. and get a life. This question about socials comes from someone who has experienced something above
circus's aboriginal existence. Circus needs to apologize and shut up.
