Of course I have 50,000 miles on US airways but they don't go to Rio. I am looking if anyone has a way to trade miles or whatever for Delta. I have close to 20,000 in delta but I don't think I could earn another 30K by sept. Buying the extra miles is about the same as a regular fare. I really want to hit Rio this year for the first time.

Az,
I suggest you keep the USAir miles for future CR trips and just buy a ticket to Rio.

Trading (transferring miles to each others accounts) has processing fees that when you add it up will cost you more than a ticket to Rio.

Delta charges $0.01/mile to transfer miles + $25 one-time fee. To transfer 50K miles will cost you $525.

I assume USAir probably charges similar fees.

You are looking at about $1,000 in fees and you still end up with 50K miles but on a different ailine program. :?

Yes, "transferring" miles is not a good idea, however trading equal awards could work. AZCentral just needs to find someone who wants to go somewhere US Airways goes for 50K, and that has 50K in Delta (or other skyteam alliance) miles. Then they just redeem the awards for eachother. No reason why this can't work.

But their Star Alliance partner United Airlines does, use your own miles for one of their award tickets.
