I have made three past trips with the same chica. Twice to Jaco and once to La Fortuna. Each of my trip have been memorable and I have yet to have a problem having her around. I actually think the sex is better when we go out of town. YMMV

The only P4P chica I have ever taken to the beach was a girl I had known for a while. We got along well and plus I speak enough bad Spanish to carry on a conversation. Absent those criteria you'd stand a good chance of ending up spending 24hrs a day with someone who (sack activities aside) is both bored and boring after the first day or so. As for cost I voluntered $100 a day since she is otherwise losing her income by being with me. We had a good time but then we both knew what we were getting. Otherwise, ya pays yer money and takes yer chances. FWIW

Under your circumstances, wanting to hit the town and find a suitable girl to take to the playa within that time, you might not have success. It probably takes a little more time than you have (a week?) to form a relationship sufficient to guarantee (or at least make it more likely than not that you will have) a good time, schedule the time (yours and hers), and actually take the trip.

I can share my limited experience. Back in September, I met a girl at Idem who I thought very sweet and sexy from the first time I saw her. We clicked in the room and we had a couple TLN's. She is not sexually aggressive, but she is genuinely sweet and honest, two qualities necessary for a TLN. I emailed her before my next trip in January and mentioned the playa, and she said that she was interested. When I saw her on the next trip, she told me that she wanted to go to the playa so I made arrangements. I have some detailed discussions about this trip in my super bowl trip report.

We never discussed dollars. At the end of the trip and before she went home, I gave her an envelope with cash. She didn't open it then and she never mentioned it again. I gave her $100/day. I assume the amount was satisfactory because she told she would like to return to the beach.

In addition to the daily rate, you have to consider other expenses, such as her transportation, food, booze, etc. However, I was happy to pay for those incidentals and even bought her a little outfit and bikini in Quepos. She looked hot, and was ever grateful for the gifts.

Because Roberto allows his girls to do TLN's, I would recommend Idem as one place to find a girl. Whether you find a girl there or at Del Rey or wherever, take a session with her and see if you connect. If you see qualities in her that you find endearing, try a TLN. I have met any number of ladies in Costa Rica who seem sufficiently sweet and honest to attempt a follow up.

This was my only trip to the playa with a chica, so it is very hard for me to advise on what to look out for or what to avoid. Although this sounds kind of self evident, I will say it anyway. I think that you should genuinely like the tica. During the time I spent with my tica prior to the playa, I enjoyed myself. Simple things like watching television and having her give you her "take" on Costa Rican pop culture are bonding experiences. Because I had internet access, I could find a video for a song that I liked and vice a versa. For example, she knew about American Idol (there is also a Latin American Idol), but did not know why Paula Abdul was a judge. I found a "Straight Up" video, and she instantly knew why Paula was famous.

Some on this board have written eloquently on the importance of respecting the girls. They are prostitutes and make their living by selling their bodies. However, they are also God's creatures who have feelings, families and a life. Recognizing this factor can make for a better experience for an hour tryst. It is of even greater importance if you are going to be with them for a couple of days.

I hope this is helpful. I really enjoyed my time at Manuel Antonio with my tica and would highly suggest it for you, if you have the chemistry. I think with that chemistry as the first and most important priority, the money issues become secondary.

I haven't really followed this thread, but I agree with CC. I'm sorry if I repeat what has already been said.

Do NOT select a travel companion based on look alone, it will be a disaster. Or even because you had one "amazing" hour with her in the room. Another certain train-wreck.

When travelling, you will need to be able to communicate (VERY IMPOPRTANT) so choose one who speaks English if you don't speak Spanish well.

I respectffully disagree with CC on whether you can find a suitable travel companion in a week. It's better to have a longer history when choosing one, but sometimes we don't have that luxury and need to make a decision sooner. If you've had a couple of good short sessions, an all-nighter or two, and you get along well outside of bed with a chica, that should be good enough.

About money... I like the way CC handled the money aspect. However, had the girl expected $200+ per day, there was a possibility of problems. Most chicas will bring up the money ahead of the trip anyway, I'm surprised his chica didn't mention it upfront. That's cool because you still have that GF fantasy. Some will want to make sure that they are getting paid and how much. If they are overly concerned about the amount, cut her loose. If all she thinks about is getting paid, it won't be any good. The key is to find one who actually wants to go away with you, not just for the $.

MP girls (i.e. Idem) are good to take on trips because they will usually expect less dinero since they make less (per hour) than the indy's. That's just my experience.

And DO NOT PAY UPFRONT! If you do, they really have no incentive to go that extra mile to please you, they will usually half-ass it till the weekend is over.
