My upcoming trip got me thinking about my first stay at the Prez. and how much it has improved. My first trip to CR was in 2/05 for the superbowl. the Rey was not available all seven days so I was winging it for the weekend with the Best Western and the Holiday Inn as my backup plan. Push came to shove when no cancellations for the Rey happened. The BW location wasn't close enough to the activaties and the Holiday Inn couldnt decide if there would be a chica fee on top of the 100+ hotel fee. someone, who had been in the same situation before, heard me checking the Rey for rooms to no avail and recommended the prez.

Between its price (45), locacation and my desperation it was a no brainer; with the bonus being no chica fee and a free breakfast.

the first night I got a room in the old wing. Rustic, servicable but nothing special the next night they moved me to a newly renovated room. Compared to the Rey it was like landing in the Four Seasons.

My next three trip have all been the Prez. as will all the rest.

I totally agree the Presidente is a great place to stay, even though, I knocked em around a few times on this board over the dress code!!!

But lately I have had trouble booking a room unless I start about 60 to 90 days before I arrive, and even then, I either get moved all over the place, or I only get about a four day stay out of them before I have to leave and find another Hotel...

That's what happened the last time and why I ended up @ amon plaza... :cry::cry::cry:

I feel the Eco's are here to stay, and they make it hard to get a room @ the Prez.

I should also say that it is High season right now and that could have lot to do with my booking problem.... but I know what you mean about BW on the Dominican side of SJ...... "it’s the HOOD" is why I stay else where.... as far as the Holiday Inn... I have only stayed there once .... The first night no chica fee, the next night a chica fee... :shock:

Being of a FRUGAL mind.... I left the next day …... :x

I had a plane to catch…. :lol::lol::lol:

Seriously though, I liked the Holiday Inn Aurola Hotel. I had a high floor with a nice view, the bed was a king and the restaurant was OK for Holiday Inn. At the Prez.. I always ask for Southern view, high floor, (away from the elevator) king size bed. The Jr. Jacuzzi suites are very nice @ the Prez., and then again, I also ask for a Southern view….Very nice and well worth the money….I think right @ a cein a night…

PS: But of course and as always. …….this is just...IMHO
Iggy... :P
