Serious question:
Where is a good place (in or around the gulch) for a good ice cream sundae? Something like a Friendly's (in the U.S.), where they have seating available.

I just saw a thread where a member asked about an "arcade" in SJO, and it got me thinking. This guy obviously likes arcades, so he asked. Well, I love a good ice cream sundae once in a while, and I was just curious if there's a good place to sit and have a nice hot fudge sundae with a chica!

Try to keep the flames down to a minimum !!!

Mucho Gusto

POP,S sabana oeste. IMHO they have the best ice cream in Costa Rica.

It is a sit down place, however you will find the sundae,s about 1/2 the size you would expect in the US. But they do make a pretty banana split.

I agree POPS is the best. They also make very good milkshakes. The only POPS that I know of is in Mall San Pedro. There's also one on Main Street in Jaco.

Being the Notorious mall walker that I am, you will find a Pops Ice Cream in just about every mall in the SJO area... San Pedro, Multi Plaza De Oeste (ZAPOTE), Multi Plaza Escazu, Terra Mall etc... Excellent Ice Cream though it does not come close to Friendlies... which we still have a few in the NY / NJ area.. Mucho Gusto are there friendlies in Florida?

PS THERE IS A BRAND NEW POPS Directly across the street from Mariscar Chicken Directly next door to the new Balcony bar & Restaurant and about 50 feet from the Presidente.. it fronts the small mall in there on Avenida Central if your not looking to make a mall run....

If you want sit down to an excellent Ice Cream Sundae that also has food Try the ever popular Tourist Soda Tapia down on Paseo Colon EXCELLENT Ice Cream Sundaes Bananna Splits etc.... Food is average but the Sandwich called the "GORDO" is KICK ASS!

There are POPS ice cream stores scattered all over Costa Rica. Some are walk-up only others have seats and some also have a drive through. They also sell pre-packed ice cream in all the major supermarkets and some pulperias. It is the premium CR ice cream.

Hint for today

If you want to sound like a gringo pronounce it POPS. Ticos pronounce it POPES.
