Helicopters circling, loud explosion sounds, wtf? I've been here many times and never seen anything like this. Does it have something to do with the student protests?

Pretty wild huh? It is 'la marcha contra a TLC' - march against the free trade agreement. Phucking helicopters turn around right over my apartment looks like no nap for me this afternoon.

Tune in channel 7 CR news if you don't want to wade out into it

I didn't feel a thing but I bet some folks down around Quepos got a good shake. I wouldn't be suprized if the sheer weight of all the Ticos concentrated downtown cause another 'temblor'.

Woah it looks like the TLC is not a real popular concept with a lot of these folks. At this moment I'm respectfully keeping my gringo ass out of the festivities. It all looks pretty peaceable though.

At least the helicopters ran out of fuel, finally. Traffic must be a total clusterphuck I can only imagine. I had made plans not to go anywhere I couldn't walk, good thing.

I felt the quake about 4:30 this morning.

Does anybody hear the explosions. What is that? Is that part of the protest?

The explosions I can hear, sounds like M-80's or something, must be emphasising their point NO TLC.

Were you awake when the earthquake hit? Shit I must be getting old I miss all the fun stuff :D

Same on the 7th floor of the presidente. But it was the shortest-lasting earthquakes I've felt - thank god.

I was in El Embaderjo on Ave 2 after the march. It looked like it was mostly an excuse to get drunk. All the Ticos shouting and chanting "NO TLC!"

How do they get TLC out of CAFTA?

I know my Spanish sucks but really do hope someone can enlighten me.

Thanks,

Luck
