Yo Fellow Veteranos,

If you are covered by the US Veteran's Admin health coverage,, and get a supplemental Tri-care plan,

then Clinica Biblica will honor and provide some of the very best health care, in direct competition with CIMA , which appears to be more expensive and restrictive.

Perhaps our friend Muffdiver can expand and elaborate this coverage. We just discussed this a few weeks ago in SJO.

Check out www.clinicabiblica.com/ click on" idiomas" on upper bar for English, or other lingos.

Circus.... Your question is one that should be asked of a lawyer here in CR. In my Insurance career,I always refrained from giving legal advice. Also I am not an expert in insurance contracts written outside of the U.S. Novice is getting me a $10,000 deductable...$2M max. payout contract to read for him. I will post my opinions after I have a chance to look it over.

Guys, I don,t post often, I really don,t have much to offer. However on this subject I can offer some insight. I have had coverage through the caja for 20 years. I also have a policy with INS. The caja is covered through my business and the Ins policy costs just over 1000 dollars a year. The cost is based on age. I am 65 and I find the cost reasonable. I and my wife have been hospitalized at different times over the years and never had any problems with coverage. The only difference with INS is now unlike the past, you have to pay up front and then apply for your money. It was much easier untill last year. In the past you simply presented you card and payed the deductible and you were on your way. But due to the amount of corrupt doctors INS changed there manner of payment. By the way I have not had any problems collecting from them. I also have a policy with IMG, global coverage. It costs just over 3000 a year. I have it in place to cover any major medical problems I may experience any where in the world. I hope this will shed some light on the issue of medical insurance in Costa Rica.
