Not sure if its a sale but its 469 with taxes from LAX to CR non-stop. The prices seem the same from the end of February through April.

I just saw the same $469 sale from LAX. Think I'll grab that one. Is it just Easter week where everything slows down or is most of April that way?

I swear that when I was browsing the TACA website 2 nights ago I saw $469 from LAX to SJO. I checked about 3 different dates in April and they were all the same price. It was evening so I decided I would call and book the next morning from the office. Then, in the a.m., when I went to TACA.com again I saw that everything was back to $519. Either there was an error with their site the evening before or else they maybe had a 1 day sale or something like that. In any event, what's an extra $50. I booked it anyway.

For some reason, Kayak.com gives me a better fare on Taca than booking directly at Taca.com. But if you book at Taca, you get an extra 2,000 miles to your FF account. I'll take the $50 savings.

JFK-SJO

Taca.com is $499
Kayak is $445

BT,
Just like it sounds, it's an airline. :P They just added the SJO route at very low prices. RT tix from Fort Lauderdale (FLL) were going for under $200 w/ taxes. The only catch is that they do not have a landing permit at SJO yet, or have they finally gotten it? They're supposed to start flying to SJO in April. Get your parachutes ready!

It is a discount airline that is starting to service Costa Rica. There are offering great fairs from Florida.

And not so hot fares from LA. Just ran some numbers for early April when they start service to San Jose. Basically, to save $32 on Taca's rate, I have to connect in Fort Lauderdale and layover for three hours, adding an additional 6+ hours to my travel time.

Guess I'll settle for my free first class upgrades, direct flights, free booze, and Latina flight attendants on the big "T", thank you.

Chi-
Try http://matrix.itasoftware.com/ it gives you prices for a 30 day period. There are several flights under 500 from Chicago to CR for that weekend.
I was able to get my flight from LA to Medellin for $418 by just changing my departure date 1 day. My wingman ended up paying 701 because he waited a few days to get his ticket. When I see a deal like that I just get it and work on the details later

I had to play with the dates to get that price. A few days ahead or back was a couple hundred more. Got the $13 insurance, just in case they fold.
